Latex gloves are your friend unless your allergic to latex, also don't forget to always warm up your engine to normal operating temp and ensure the vehicle is level before performing your oil change.

Adding oil to the filter is a bad idea. If any dirt or grime gets in it is unfiltered and goes to the bearings.

Would you suggest letting the filter fill itself and then add more oil after its full?
