Man! Your bike sounds like a tractor almost lol! Pretty cool! Thanks for the how to! You mentioned that its common to see metal shavings in the old oil when draining. I wonder how well Moto Guzzi stacks up against the other manufacturers as far as that is concerned. I only bring this up as FortNine did a comparison of almost every bike manufacturer only they didn't include Guzzi. Didn't even know that was a thing until I saw the video. Anyways, glad I found your channel! Subscribed!

What Johnny Bravo said - I replace the filter's crush washer and O-Ring (along with the drain plug's crush washer) with every change. It's cheaper than the annoyance of having do deal with an oil leak because I tried to save a couple of bucks. BTDT & got the T-shirt. A note on draining the oil - if you prop up the front wheel with the bike on the center stand, it tilts the engine a bit to the rear and you get a better drain.

I recomend everybody to verify the tightening of the bolts of the cracnkcase and also aply some bolt sealer (medium range) for the protector. As a good Guzzi is better to check the valve clearence and re-tight the cylinderhead, everytime you make maintenace (And if you can do parameters reset with the Piaggio or similar diagnosis tool to help the magneti marelli ecu to make the base injection map😊) it'a an advice from a senior Moto Guzzi tecnician✌️😎

Thanks for the video, I needed a sanity check as I couldn't get my oil filter cover to come off the lower sump even after tapping with a wooden dowel. I dropped the lower sump and even trying to tap the cover out from what would be the inside didn't cause it to move at all. Currently the lower sump is sitting in a machine shop and I hope they can release the filter cover and I can move on with things. Best guess is that the shop that last did the oil change over torqued the cover and crushed the o-ring and jammed the cover into the sump. No surprise when owning a Moto Guzzi, the shop is 230 miles away and not really convenient to get the bike to them with the lower sump off.

Very useful, thanks for that! You might need to replace that crush washer on the oil filter bolt on the next oil change, looks like it might have a limited life. How about a video on the do's and don'ts of checking the engine oil level of the V85TT and any quirks there may be with the model? Why? I am happy I understand the basics of checking the level when the engine is warm and the bike is on the main stand on level ground with the ideal level being between the upper and bottom white lines. BUT,I keep getting wide variations in levels, sometimes the bike looks almost void of oil and at other times it looks over filled, I have done two small tops ups based on this! The bike has less than 4000 miles on the clock, it is not burning oil and it does not have even a miniscule leak anywhere! Puzzling!!!

Very nice, I'd like to make a suggestion, you're dealing with an Italian machine, wash the bike thoroughly before service, it ensures that no dirt or abrasive stuff goes in the engine and if there's a leak of any kind, you'll know within minutes.
@cubbysue2 жыл бұрын
That is a good suggestion, I need to keep it cleaner than I do now, but most of the time when I do wash in town, it is filthy by the time I get home.

@@cubbysue My black V9 bobber full custom is a nightmare to clean especially with the Kineo spoke wheels. I avoid riding the particular bike in the rain for that reason. However, I have found that using the Turtle wax ceramic spray after washing the bike works excellent and doesn't allow the oily dirt to stick on any of the surfaces. It also lasts for a couple of months before it needs to be re-applied. Quite easy actually, spray the bike as you're drying it off. As far as degreaser without harming painted surfaces that actually removes synthetic oil and leaves a protection film, S-100. Buy the best and forget the rest. Cheers. Looking to buy a 2022 V85TT adventure very soon, all Centenarios are sold out for 2021. The dealer told me to wait a couple of months for the 2022 incentives. I'll either go for the red or .....maybe....the Ronald McDonald. I'll see what is available.

Hello, thanks for that, am I the only one who is confused with that bike's service manual? I have read a lot of manuals, this one is confusing. So this bike needs three oil changes? engine oil, gearbox oil and bevel gear oil? And you did only engine oil here. Gear box oil and bevel gear oil are of the same kind, right (75W 140)?

Thanks for the video. Just a couple comments: 1. Change the crush washer when you change the oil. And if you don't have a new one you can re-use the old crush washer by annealing it using a propane torch. 2. Tilting the bike (both sides) drains a little more oil. 3. Being air cooled Guzzis can easily over heat, 2-up in stop and go traffic on a hot summer day for example. Unless you are taking your V85 off road -- and let's face it, most of us aren't taking it on anything more gnarly than logging roads -- you can help with over heating by removing the skid plate for good.

Why do you check oil level with it on the centre stand? It's meant to be checked standing on the wheels, they don't even have a centre stand stock on the base bike. It will look empty on stand even when it's half way full
@cubbysue Жыл бұрын
Actually, there is no difference at all whether it is standing upright on the tires or standing upright on the center stand. It will still read the same. It will read different on the side stand.
@mmm357m Жыл бұрын
@@cubbysue it reads differently on stand to on tyres, I've tested this myself, it reads low if you measure on centre stand. Of course it reads wrong leaning on the side stand, I'm not suggesting anyone check oil like that. The angle of the sump is different when it's on the centre stand compared to flat on the tyres, because the back wheel is off the ground. This causes the level to read differently in the sight glass.

@cubbysue3 жыл бұрын
It is a Bluetooth device that allows you to interact with the bike through an app you install on your phone. It's $200 and it's awful. Moto Guzzi should be ashamed at how poorly it works. When it does work, it is a way for them to track and sell personal information about you. It is also a nanny that data logs to show things like max speed, duration of trip and a few other things that they could use against you for a warranty claim.
@johncallow223 жыл бұрын
@@cubbysue Thanks. I have an OBD2 reader and I wondered if it was something similar. The first service on my Centenario was done by my local MG dealer but I intend to do all the work myself in future. I'm in Douglas, Isle of Man, just a few metres from the TT Course. There's an MT-09 and a CB750K2 in my garage too.
@mmm357m Жыл бұрын
@@cubbysue the data is held on the app. On your phone and not sent to Moto Guzzi, if you clear data or reinstall the data is gone. I have it and used it a lot on long trips and find the satnav really useful, I don't want the phone on the handlebars most of the time. I don't need the navigation either most of the time but I use the music streaming function every day I ride. Having control of the music from the handlebars is great, and also the intercom when pillion is on is useful too, especially because I can turn it off when I need to concentrate in traffic. The MIA also allows you to use voice assistant by holding the heated grips button in, so it's possible to start apps, make calls etc. Without even taking your phone out of your pocket.
