OH that is so brilliant and it's reusable! I've already hated using freezer paper because you have to cut each time. That is such a great idea! That soap is so pretty too!

HowToMakeSoap it's great not having to cut paper each time you want to make soap. Saves so much time! X

This is a great idea! I've never thought of using oil cloth to line my soaps. I think I will have to stop by the fabric store this weekend!😉

It's Margie from Auburn, Washington, USA :) I like watching you pour such a lot of soap LOL Very relaxing! I only do 6 pounds at a time and use a 1.50:1 water/lye ratio with fragrance oils that behave.

Quick question. I was actually in the yardage store today looking at oil cloth and clear PVC plastic in order to protect my Corian countertop. Would the oil cloth prevent damage to my countertop if lye solution were spilled on it?

Can oil cloth be used to wrap soap?
@MidwestSoaper7 жыл бұрын
Hey Tiggy. So glad you're all settled in your new shop. WRT coating the cloth with some type of oil-I think you would be better off trying something that won't saponify, like mineral oil or vaseline. There's no chance of it binding with the soap. Take care.
@futureprimitivesoap7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use mineral oil, or vaseline. Something along those lines is a good idea though. Xx

@futureprimitivesoap4 жыл бұрын
It's called oil cloth but it isn't made with oil. It's a plastic coated linen fabric.

These are a little bit smaller than the average and that's because of the way that you cut them some of the other sobres I've notice or actually cut them lengthwise instead width probably get 18 bars but I'm curious what you charge per bar American dollars what it would average compared to those larger bars I know the cost depends on the Soper I'm only an Enthusiast and I live in my car so I love to watch these videos just watching them is very therapeutic thank you for sharing
@futureprimitivesoap6 жыл бұрын
They're not smaller than the average. They weigh 5oz, which is the average. I cut my soaps in all different ways depending on which mould I'm using, but all of them weigh 5-5.5oz. I charge £6 -£6.50 per bar. I'm sorry you're living in your car. Is there any help you can get where you are?

Quick question, did you get your soap log splitter from Bud Haffner on etsy?

I found oil cloth at my local Wal-Mart for $6.97 a yard, so I only picked up 1/2 a yard, because I'm using a long skinny wooden soap mold. I'll try it out this weekend.😊

michelle hill excellent! Hope it works for you x

l noticed you cut your doap width and not long wise, is there a particular reason, of was a random cut?

Nota Noutsi the cutter has a short base, so I cut width ways.

Is oil cloth the same as what Americans call wallpaper?
@futureprimitivesoap7 жыл бұрын
Corena Garoutte I don't think so. Wallpaper is what you put on walls, and is made of paper no?
@barbh667 жыл бұрын
Corena Garoutte no here it is called linoleum.
@futureprimitivesoap7 жыл бұрын
+Barb Hummel linoleum is what you put on floors here. Oil cloth is used as table cloth, which you can wipe down instead of washing in a machine.
@barbh667 жыл бұрын
FuturePrimitive Soap Company ohhh ok! Thank you.
@djawnsjhilson2186 жыл бұрын
Its still called oil cloth in the us. Its the plasticky tablecloth material with a softer cottony background. There is a wide selection online or in fabric stores. Even Wal-Mart has a few to choose from. Linoleum is the same in the us and wallpaper too.

It's almost like camouflage. Lol! With your mold matching your background it just kind of disappears.

You would want to spray with something that didn't saponify to prevent sticking.
