Oil Dilution = is something every new Honda owner is fully aware of, especially turbo owners.
@Indigenous51

You failed to inform as to how you can ascertain when your oil is in dilution and how do you know when the system has regenerated, specifically in diesel engines. No one goes to the trouble of getting their oil analysed unless they’re in the business of competition. Your best bet is to change the oil and filter around 50 to 60% before manufacturers recommendations if you’re looking for longevity and better performance, which nowadays is very unlikely. There is a point of discussing the purpose of EGR valve ?

Thank you for addressing this , this is a huge issue with the VAG TDI engines especially the early ones from the late 2000s into the early 2010's . Had to delete my dpf after realising the cost it would take to replace it after it had been diluting my oil and causing oil pressure to drop increasingly often

Great video, covering and explaining a common issue that is overlooked or unknown to most motorists, with clear and relevant graphics for the viewer. The overall quality of the videos is improving greatly as your confidence behind the camera improves and the editing is so much sleeker. I hope the hard work is starting to pay dividends. It is clear that a lot of effort goes into these productions. Keep up the great work. I look forward to the next installment.

CHEERS MY FRIEND, you've been here from the early days and your encouragement is greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if I'll ever truly see "dividends", my current hourly rate for making these videos works out at just a few pence, so I certainly won't be giving up my day job anytime soon, but you never know. lol I am getting more efficient at making them though so that help, but as long as I'm helping a few people along the way I consider that reward in itself.

on my 1.7Cdti I replace my oil and filter every 10k klms. I find this is the sweet spot. Also vital is to clean the EGR and surrounding pipes every 6 months along with a fuel/injector cleaner in the diesel tank. I use the car for mix of short & long journeys. 6 monthly servicing has got me to 12 years and 120k with no bills. Oil and filters are cheaper than oil samples in my area!!! Do not forget replacing air filter and to mass air flow to keep engine and fuel economy in tip top condition..

Thanks for covering this, although I have a question that needs answers. So back in the 80s/90s golf Gti’s were notorious for using oil until they reached circa 59k miles, the explanation I always understood was that the piston rings would eventually bed in, so why didn’t the oil level increase with dilution? The pressure in the bore topside is greater than the internal crank pressure - I’m not saying dilution as you describe is wrong, I just can’t see an answer to the contradiction

My second comment/question, would it be the case that diesels are more prone to dilution because the combustion cycle pressure is higher than a petrol?

Thanks for the video, does adding water methanol injection and running a rich lamba (0,7) accelerate oil dilution and would a thicker oil assist? Thanks for the tip on oil level checking

My son's Lfx motor the oil disappears. In between all changes putting in an extra five litres of oil.. I'm thinking maybe using a thicker oil? What do you think cheers Graham
@Noksus
@Noksus 18 күн бұрын
@@theaussienurseflipper.8113 That is a sign that the engine is probably burning oil or it's leaking. Some engines burn like 1liter per 1000 km. Oil burning is sometimes a characteristic of an engine design or it's caused by poor oil maintenance. If the oil isn't changed often enough, sludge can build up in the piston oil control rings and it will start to cause the oil to be burnt.

Just change the oil every 6000 miles if you do short runs.

It seems I can't post links on here! The comment is deleted so I'll be looking into that one, so the list without links was Millers, Finning, oilanalysislab, oilsampling, fa-st, theoillab, fluid power solutions. You won't find most of these in Google because they have deleted most of the results they show for most searches at the moment so try bing. the cost is around £27 to £40 but you only need to do this a couple of times and you'll know your cars baseline.

1st i heard of oil dilution was back in 2016, when Honda's earth dreams 1.5 turbo GDI engine started being used in most new Honda's & China to this day refuses to allow importation of Honda's with this engine
