Replacement of the upper oil dipstick tube Volkswagen Golf TDI MK4. Quick easy job, just make sure not to manhandle the tube too much. Put it in some hot water before you install so it snaps on with less downward pressure.

como va a estar el agua a 150 grados si a 100 hierve y se evapora, 90 grados y ya esta bien....

I put mine on but the dipstick is very tight and when I go to check the oil the tube pops off?
@wellingtonviking Жыл бұрын
Sounds like maybe it didn't seat all the way. Did you hear the snap when you pushed down and initially installed it? Mine had a distinct snap when I put it on: it definitely locked into place. I did notice the dipstick is more snug in this tube than the original, but haven't had any issues with the new dipstick tube pulling up when checking the dipstick. I suggest you may need to make sure it's seated in place correctly: if you didn't use the hot water trick, try that. Also, make sure the base didn't crack and is loose, as if you manhandle it too much, this can and does happen to a lot of folks. It's a cheap $6 piece of hard plastic. You may have also received a dud unfortunately. Until you get to it, I suggest you check your oil with 2 hands: one holding the dipstick tube in place, and one grabbing the dipstick so you don't pull it up again.

A piece fell in the hole when i replaced it, should i be worried?
@wellingtonviking Жыл бұрын
At minimum, I'd drain the oil and try and get those pieces out. It's happened to many people and a lot of people have had success with draining the oil. Some say to drop the pan if you want to be pedantic about it. I'd start with draining the oil first as that's the easiest path forward.
@vampir335 Жыл бұрын
@@wellingtonviking in my case i think to drop the entire pan altogether cos the pice will not come out the small opening of the sump
@wellingtonviking Жыл бұрын
@@vampir335 sorry to hear. Are you able to get one of the claw retriever retractable tools in the top dipstick hole to grab the piece before you run the engine? Something like either of the following: amzn.to/3q9ivaS amzn.to/3MtTFdt
@vampir335 Жыл бұрын
No I am not able to, it fell too deep into the hole, I just replaced the funnel and from what I read it will settle at the bottom of the sump and won't be taken up into the engine as there is a metal filter between the take up pipe and a other filter in the oil filter.
@wellingtonviking Жыл бұрын
@@vampir335 Ideally it's removed, but if it settles and isn't stirred up again, hopefully you're ok. I suppose it depends on the size of the piece in there. You wouldn't want a large piece blocking the filter either.
