Very cool build! TDI's have a come a very long way since I started modifying mine over 20 years ago. Back then you really only had 2 choices for chips and only a VNT17 for a "big" turbo. One day I'll get back to work on mine. The turbo shaft warped on it about 8 years ago and haven't touched it since. It was a Kerma sourced 1856SV. Hey man great video and great car down there, i have an mk4 but atd engine 101hp, actually made an ecu remap and we'r almost at 150hp something less 330nm torque, and it already smoke almost like your but i have stock injectors, how do u manage with black smoke to avoid being like a carbon train in 2023? i would like to improve it bit more like 180hp more or less without loosing acceleration. any suggestion?
@GasHouseGarage Жыл бұрын
Thank you! And welcome to the channel! We didn’t write the tune. But we do understand it somewhat. You could try reducing fueling at lower RPM’s with a little bit more boost without raising exhaust back pressure too much. This might clear up some smoke down low. Another thing to check is piping. There was a noticeable difference in smoke when we went with larger turbo inlet and outlet piping. The 90hp VE stock piping is very small though

What u tune with
@GasHouseGarage Жыл бұрын
Tune was written by a forum member. I don’t believe he has a website or anything. You can try searching “skaude tdi tuning” on Facebook, that’s his page
@wc4260 Жыл бұрын
Wait we can remove our maf? Is there a draw back?
@GasHouseGarage Жыл бұрын
You can have a tune written based only on MAP values. If you do that you can run without a MAF. Ive heard the problem is the waffle structure in the MAF makes the air too turbulent on higher HP applications so the readings aren’t as accurate, but unsure of the validity on that
@wc4260 Жыл бұрын
@Gas House Garage didn't realize we could do this w our ecu. What software beyond vcds do you use? Btw not sure what your steering wheel situation is, but I searched for a 3 spoke mk4 wheel forever, ended up realizing u could use one from a 2012 and just wire it super simply. 2012 are much easier to find at the yards.
@GasHouseGarage Жыл бұрын
We actually had someone write the tune for the car. From my understanding it’s more than just turning it off. I think some tables have to be re-written as well

I'm using .280's, pd150 turbo (gt1749vb), 3bar map sensor and smf on the asv motor, runs at 180hp with 460nm torque Bigger turbo is deffo the next step but i recommend a fmic. I'm still using the factory side mount and it heat soaks real bad Watermeth and a bigger turbo is my next steps - i'd recommend you go bigger than the pd150 turbo for the size injectors you're using, that was a mistake i made
