Response to prior comment. I’m a female licensed electrician now existing in Asheville North Carolina. I can’t get any field experience from the hvac men here at all, so I have to teach myself. I have learned a lot from Steve’s videos, especially the tolls he uses. The burner in the tin can I live in doesn’t have the room to take off the motor this one does in the video. Fortunately I had bought some shirt ratchet wrenches from Harbor Freight a few years back and the 1/2 “ worked perfectly in that right position by the fire wall. Good I for on using the channel locks in the nit driver. Subtle stuff like that is what I learn fro and his method , like any accomplished tradesman , is music to my eyes. So back off on the you tube videos. You watched this one..

Does that big fresh air intake help with the Beckett in your area? Is there a problem if the fresh air is icy cold? Is there a valve that shuts down the intake when the fan is not operating?

Great video. Enjoyed this one. I'd love to hear you talk about the air band more and show the fire if you can while you adjust it. Thanks for the upload Steve. Cold and Blizzard in the plains this week!

If the fan is blowing a decent amount of the time without hot air. I’m guessing first things to check/do is change oil nozzle, oil filter, clean igniter anodes etc. anything else someone would recommend?

What happens when Steve doesn't do the burner service. Good Lord that is a beast of a power venter. Has the damper pulled open and still pulling a huge draft.
@AMStationEngineer5 жыл бұрын
1. Case in-point why it's a safe and wise business practice to video your work. 2. How many cubic yards of soot could this thing have belched out in a week? 3. The neatness and cleanliness of this job at completion, should be quite apparent - to even the least HVACR knowledgeable of homeowners/tenants.
@Skyhawk19985 жыл бұрын
Loosey goosey pressurized oil fitting right over all of the sparky electrical bits... nothing could possibly go wrong, nossir. What do you think the price of that service was? Looks like a 12 pack to me. What "plastic shroud" were you referring to in that burner assembly? Not used to oil at all. Only gas and heat pumps out here in Kansas. If that improper service had led to a fire, could you have been blamed for it because of your tag being there? Obviously there was someone else who got in there and broke things, but there's no proof of that without a tag and without the homeowner's admission.
@andrewhicks64944 жыл бұрын
Fortunately being an LLC, the homeowner wouldn’t be able to come after Steve personally and if and when that went to a deposition, after Steve turned over his records of not being there in 4 years it would be fairly easy to prove that someone else was there.

Olsen bcl 120 takes a .75 80 A hollow not a .75 80 B solid and why did you not pull the fan to check how much oil was under the heat exchanger. And pull the burner to see if the cerefelt pot was soaked with oil could of been a bang

Ya great video showing the incompetent techs that work on these i probley could have figured that one out ,i was a carpenter.where i live most guys play guessing games on what part may have failed until they get it working right ,fire up issues went from a cracked igniter too a fuel pump an now have loud noise at fire up now ??? ,an still wont run for more then 6 to 12 hours,next year i am looking for a decent well recommened place though this place has 25 5 star ratings on facebook looks can be you know. most are delivery of oil only ,i dont know what it is on my 3rd place ask as question they dont know yet there the guy who should know ,does not consider a 24x18 filter for mobile homes should be replaced by them ,not that big a deal ,this one say my oil filter raley needs to be changed running mostly #2 oil an at time a mix 12 year old thermopride system should last 30 years & i am working on just learning basic cleaning myself re fireing An other parts they mark up,sorry for the rant but is hard to find good help these days ,i took pride in my work still do, it seems we have a generation that just dont care easy way out tape it

@@James_Bowie they do, after 2 tries there is a hard lockout but it's easy to figure out. And then the mayhem ensues...
@KenKen-ui4ny4 жыл бұрын
They tell you not to press the reset more then once, because that could cause the burner gun to inject unburnt raw heating oil into the combustion chamber, which not only can make a big mess, but it can also be an explosion hazard.
@potatolew44953 жыл бұрын
I had someone about 25 years ago when I was an apprentice out on a no heat in January about 2:30 in the morning. I was there solo, knew my limitations checked out things had a bad transformer. I asked how many times the guy hit the reset was told 3 times over the past 4 days, when I hit the switch and that lit up I damn near shit myself, blew a fireball out the damper as well as the chimney, found out later as the nosy neighbor was watching out the window. I will never forget that.

@potatolew44953 жыл бұрын
The blower fan is delayed, the plenum has to heat up before the bower kicks in. Every forced hot air system is like that no matter what fuel source.

well got to say with the issues i had i know why joe home owner is trying to,i would not have made that mistake,again my point is if a tech cant do any better of a job tightening up a bolt then me ,yes professionals are different then joe techs ,meeting to many of those guys who are supposed to be pros an there is no one in my state that regulates there shitty work ,is why people are watching these videos can learn to do the basics if you have soem mechanical skills you can save yourself some head aches it seems
