I think I had a heart attack when you did the glazing. 😂 Turned out so good.

okay, this one, so far, is one of my favorites. Scared me when you did the oil paint glaze. Came out beautifully though.

Wow great work! Couple of questions...were the rags used to wipe off the wash dry? What fixative did you use on the charcoal coats? And lastly, how long did you all the oil paint to cure before varnishing? Thanks a bunch for sharing!
@JoelPilcherArt Жыл бұрын
Mostly dry, but dipped it in mineral spirits a bit to take off more oil. Used Krylon workable fixative before brushing on the oil paint. Oil paint set for 15 minutes or so before I started removing. Thanks!

Hey, I've only recently discovered your channel but have been simply amazed by the art you've been producing. How long does it usually take you to complete one such drawing, or rather this one in particular?
@JoelPilcherArt Жыл бұрын
Size, content and medium are all factors with how long a piece takes. This one probably took 3-4 days. Thank you!!

How long do you let the oil glaze dry? Best regards

Usually 15 minutes or so is sufficient. Thanks!

Why did you spray the acetone?
@pelorinoflores2980 Жыл бұрын
Hi,Sir Joel can i ask you?...Is it okay to use a varnish matt spray after you put a golden soft gel gloss and then without applying fixative matt finish?..Is it work?..hope you can answer my question,thank you and gobless!!..
@JoelPilcherArt Жыл бұрын
I'm actually not sure. I've never used a spray after the varnish.

Could you use a normal fixative instead of the acetone?
@JoelPilcherArt7 ай бұрын
I use both. The acetone for effect and the fixative to seal the charcoal. The acetone is optional.

Is the oil paint step needed or just adds your style ?
@JoelPilcherArt Жыл бұрын
Definitely not necessary. Often I'll use charcoal only, leaving my work black and white. The oil glaze is just a new technique I've been trying.
