Don't forget the power agitation. (The spinny tool). It's great at loosening up the deep dirt. Some companies charge more to pull out the buffer, but that's typically when the carpet is really rough, and the techs going to have to go over it multiple times. So you're not getting just one standard cleaning. One standard cleaning isn't enough for most house holds. The folks that don't wear shoes in the house are the only ones I've seen get away with the base clean, and it still looks great.

Just an FYI, most floor mats are are an olefin fiber and they petroleum based. As such they are oleophilic meaning petroleum oils, grease can penetrate the fiber easily. They are durable to high ph cleaners such as Flex which IIRC is around 11 to 12. However...if you have some "disaster" in your home s carpet, unless you know the fiber type, for god s sake dont use a cleaning pre spray that has a ph of higher than about 9.8. Most residential carpet is acid dyed nylon and super high ph will remove the stain resistance. Another tip, stain resistance is not the same as Teflon or Scotchguard. Cationic substances also degrade stain resistance so dont spray Lysol disenfectant in the air over stsin resistant nylon.
