Since you had to disconnect that lower hose and let some coolant drain out to remove the housing, that would be a great time to replace the hose itself. Also, these 4.6L engines really like that Motorcraft "Gold" coolant. The older green coolant will work, but the gold stuff is better for those aluminum heads and can go for a longer period between changes. Good video!

This is a great point of advice, that is what i just bought last week and replaced with mine, i had put the green in last time but have to turkey base the old stuff out until i get most the green out of it...lol! If you do this method you will have to collect the old fluid and take it to a place that will allow you to dispose of it the right way so you don't contaminate the ground water.

Just to let you all know if you have the 5.4 3v engine with f150 you really don't need to do the fill the coolent like he did because it will work the air bubbles out in the coolent jug and also keep the unit pressurized at the same time. If it is totally full like that you may get it to full then that would be bad as well i would think. If you did not drive it to long you could turky baster it out down to the line on the coolent jug then put your cap on but check it later when it is cool to see if you need to take out more. My f150 is notorious for this gasket to fail, so i just had to replace mine and this was a buger from hell to get to those 10mm bolts, i had to use extensions and elbow joint sockets to get to them. My old gasket looked like his as well, so it needed it, also if your car over heats or a hose bust or you been leaking coolent and or the coolent jug over flows then replace the radiator cap because the cap is set to release pressurized air at 16psi and that is just my psi, yours could be diffrent. Thanks for the great video, you did great with the footage so that we all got a good look at where them bolts were at, it is a really tough job so your sister better has made you a good sammich lol!

If it’s inside the car it could be the heater core under the dashboard. You’d have to take the dash out to fix it if that’s what it is. You’ll need heat in the winter for defrost, but could connect the two heater hose lines that go into the firewall that go to the heater core until you get it fixed (if it’s the heater core)

I need help! Plz! I just did this on my 1998 mustang GT. It has the oil cooler. I took the oil cooler off first and then the adapter plate and replaced the gasket. When I went and started my car, EVERY BIT of oil that I had just put in the car and was in the oil pan started pouring out from underneath the car around the area I was working. And I mean POURING out. Like all 6 quarts
@jaywozny
@jaywozny Жыл бұрын
Did I maybe accidentally hit and disconnect an oil line? The oil drain plug is on, the adapter plate, gasket and oil cooler are all back on correctly since it only goes on one way as well. There’s no hole in the block or anything like that so I don’t know what would make something pour out like that. As if someone is pouring out a gallon of milk from the engine bay
