The change in Boingo's style is so apparent in this video vs Farewell. The need for a look was important in the early days of new wave.

They never cared too much for a planned look other than in the earliest days 1979-1980 ish when Danny wore some pretty snazzy outfits. It went away but then touring Good For Your Soul he wore this baggy white suit for a bit. But Danny’s philosophy was really to let the band wear whatever they wanted and focus on the music. Years later with their last album they started dressing like 90s teenage skaters, not sure whose idea that was! But still didnt care too much for image

My first concert was Oingo Boingo in 90'. I was 11 years old at the time and grew up listening to them. Boingo has always been my favorite band💀.

Why couldn't it be the Oingo Boingo virus I could put up with quarantined with Boingo albums. To bad it's just another day

I was heartbroken when he left the group. But saw a couple of performances of Zuma 2 that he and Richard Gibbs moved on to. 😊

kinda sad abt the playback/lipsync but danny's sick moves make up for it in all seriousness though, im surprised at danny's ability to move. maybe it's because i'm as stiff as a wooden plank when i dance, but JEEEZ he looks so free and like hes having the time of his life while performing. i love their energy, it's contagious

It’s better for them to lip sync to the song Because then they won’t really have to concentrate on playing and plus they don’t have to worry about what they sound like because they’re gonna sound perfect because it’s the album and everybody will also think that too. So nothing wrong with lip-synching to the song

Nothing wrong with lip-synching. It sounds better for them. It’s less work for the engineers.

An interesting choice singing WakeUP for mainstream Bandstand. I wonder what they were thinking. Maybe the lyrical quality of the song. I dug it and recall this show.
And nobody listened & woke up--welcome to 1984 world 🥲

Pretty complex sound for a pop band -- love the horn section. Still, that lead singer won't amount to anything . . .

@@odaydrums as a drummer myself, I get what you’re saying But then it would have to be a whole big production thing to have to get an engineer, the sound guy, microphones, mic the kit ,you know the whole jazz, then do like five takes of it and try to pick the best one and blah blah blah
