Public humiliation is never a joke. Girl in #1 needs to go. He clearly has no understanding of her at all, after 5years, he is still very shallow. He would have someone new inside a month.

No.1: Seriously? Why would someone do that? How immature of the partner. No.2: That butt head should've been honest from the beginning! All the time and money put into planning the wedding and going through with it... wasted. Divorce inbound, especially since he was cheating.

Story 1. You would not be breaking up over a joke. You would be breaking up over proof that this guy doesn't love you. He would never do that to someone he really loved. NEVER!

The major kicker is that he KNOWS she wants to get married, yet he pulled this anyway. You don't play with someone's heart like that. A good prank is something that both parties involved find funny.

#1 Prank will keep rearing it's ugly head and be remembered. Humiliated, mocked and laughed at being the butt of the joke. Eventually, it will be on the list as to why she left.

The prank was something that children do playing house on the playground. He is very immature. What other pranks is he going to do just to get his friends laugh expecting her to just laugh with them. She should leave him unless she wants to live with his disrespect for life.

That " prank" was a calculated act of cruelty. He really doesn't give a &*&^%$ about you except as a housekeeper and bedmate. At least you've seen what he truly is, so make your plans, stay composed, and leave when he's out of the house to your new location. Don't argue or give any warning, simply leave. Who's name is your place in? If it's an apartment, maybe find another as far away as possible. What you just received was a huge red flag. Best of luck and healing.

#1 not sure I could get over that 'joke' It wasn't a joke. After 5 years he pulled that joke. Nope, just leave him. He actually showed his true colors. #2, he wants to fool around, because wah wah wah he hasn't been single and he wishes he had some flings. And slept around. I would divorce him or have it annulled if they can. And not look back.

Number two is sad bc I know people who actually have felt the way he felt (guy or girl). Cold feet and anxiety about the future IS normal. But you should never be actually thinking “life as a single person is better.” If that guy had any single friends they would tell him what a mistake he was making. It’s a shame that he’s throwing away his first REAL and probably only love like that but he made his bed

My (28F) husband (31M) of 6 weeks says he wants to be single... we have been together for 9 wonderful/happy years. Is this salvageable or is this the end? UPDATE: Confirmed that he is 100% cheating, which sucks but was also vindicating and actually makes me feel better about the gut feeling I had about the girl. Thank you all SO much for all the kind comments and messages I have received. It's been so helpful to read similar stories and to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The next few months will be rough but I have hope I will come out better on the other side. ------- TLDR: I was blindsided by my partner of 9 years who suddenly wants to be single right after getting married.

Someone I know got divorced after nearly 30yrs. They were married in early 20s after being a couple since HS and the husband at nearly 50 decided they were missing out on those carefree young dating years and wanted some sort of "open" relationship. A no-go for the spouse so divorce it was.

Story 2. Any single guy (heck any single PERSON) would be telling that guy what a mistake he was making. How lucky he was to only have been with one person and finding a love in that person. It’s a shame because I totally get the cold feet and mid life crisis or whatever. But I can’t believe he threw it all away for some girl he works out with. I know he will regret this in the future (I think he may realize it too, hence why he hoped she would be waiting for him which at that point was such an ick), but I’m glad op will be long gone by that point.

Eeew.....If you end up separating, make sure he gets checked for STDs before you even consider being with him again. Remember, you aren't just sleeping with the one person, but with every person they've ever slept with.

First story: She needs to think long and hard about what her future will be like with this man. I believe that he has no intentions of getting married. He pretty much has a wife already. Second story: If he wants to leave, she should let him leave, but let him know that if he leaves, it’s for good. Well, cheating after so short of time after marriage means she should run fast and run far. She went into the marriage in good faith but he did not.

That last woman is honestly my ideal wife, from what I can tell. She's clearly compassionate (perhaps to a fault, given how long she gave him) and cares about other people. I wouldn't have even thought of the guests that attended the wedding.

story 1 she started dating him at 23 and him 28, but now that she is 28 and he is in his thirties he makes this kind of decision? girl no, that is a life view, he has and you need to leave, he set in his immature ways and is not a good partner. don't think it silly that you were hurt, joke is the term he is using to gaslight your own valid emotional experience away and his dismissal of that is just as unhealthy as his prank ideal. story 2.................not to judge the guy but he was 22 when he got a wonderful girl to be his gf then wife but complain about not dating or single in your twenties????? he didn't date in high-school or before her? but blames her for being his only relationship? after update yeah was thinking that was wanting to save the cake but eat it too/best of both worlds cheater minded logic.

6:00 - I don't know about this... If you spent your entire life with one person, you might not be able to objectively gauge how good the relationship actually is. I don't think that's a reason to break up with your partner if you're 100% sure they're what you want, but I wouldn't consider not having experience in relationships a ""flex", either.

Better yet he can continue to tell all of his friends about that prank as a newly single man. In the second story, just let him go and please don't even beg for this marriage to work because he truthfully just wasted your time. If he feels this way already then why in the world did he get married to you? He's a straight up looser. He is so lame for even saying this to her because he had no problems at all being her boyfriend for 9 years, but as soon as they get married, he immediately wants out. Usually when you are in a relationship with someone for that long, the woman or the man obviciously wants to take the next step in making the relationship by making it all the way complete.
