Cool contrast between the two North Korean defectors is that Sae-byuk in season 1 means dawn in Korean and No-eul in season 2 means sunset. I liked that a lot for some reason.

Problem is of course that those names aren’t North Korean. I’m pretty sure that it’s required by law in North Korea to have sino-Korean names, meaning having Hanja (Chinese character based) names. There’s a lot about this show that is a bit off. Like how medical debt is represented, South Korea has affordable and cheap health care so it’s also unrealistic that people would end up destitute because of an illness.

So I was thrown off when Bunny Girl got her invitation card. When she went to quit her job that she's had for two years, I asked my husband how she knew how long she'd be gone. Who quits a job when they don't know what's been extended to them? So she definitely knew what the Games were. Then when she parked her car and walked to a semi, I thought it was weird a participant was given so much freedom. Lol then the lockers solidified my suspicions. My husband didn't believe me until she put on the uniform. I thought it was a good twist.

This series introduced me to your channel and I've subscribed ever since!❤ Its soo interesting so far to think that maybe game chooses the soldiers in a similar way they do with the players. Players are driven by *desperation* , being heavily indebted or having other circumstances which truly drives their will to survive-- inside the game and outside of it. Whereas the soldiers may be picked based on *hopelessness* and not having a desire to live or see the world not worth living for. Which could explain their jaded demeanor they are (bunny lady and the recruiter). Two different ends of the spectrum.

I'm watching this season together with you guys. In S1, Saebyeok's (the North Korean) last name is also Kang. Saebyeok means dawn. S2, there is another North Korean defector, Kang Noeul. Noeul means sunset. I wonder if they are related? Or maybe just a callback to the previous season.

Spoiler: Just finished watching all damn episodes. To me only the epispde of Merry Go Round and the last episode were worth watching! I had a huge expectations on the mother,son duo storyline also acting and expected more from the dad who has a daughter and expected more from the North Korean woman but they showed nothing. Even the son almost let his mom being killed lol. Also I thought the woman who is from NK somehow will protect the man who has also a sick daughter yet she also did nothing lol... Such useless characters.....I'm glad at least Top and Siwan fought in the bathroom. If they didnt, they also would have been useless characters😂 Siwan's girlfriend is also such a boring and useless character! Worse than Minsu! Honestly every main characters were useless in terms of storyline and acting except Gihun's friend😂 Only actor I got impressed was Kang Haneul. Im not that big fan of him but his acting was good!
