They set the standard for many things you see in K-Pop today, and most of those standards were created by Big Bang members. For example, T.O.P was an underground rapper known as Tempo before becoming an idol. He was the first underground rapper to transition into an idol, introducing a deep voice to the industry. However, after T.O.P debuted, it became a trend for groups to include someone with a deep voice, paired with a mysterious, strong, and masculine image. In 2017, he was arrested for smoking weed, which is illegal in Korea. They bullied him, and it later came to light that his problematic ex-girlfriend had set him up. At the time, T.O.P was already battling depression. While he was in critical condition, the media spread false stories about him, claiming he was faking his condition. When he recovered, K-netz said he should feel ashamed for failing to kill himself. It’s insane, isn’t it? Welcome to the dark side of Korea. When he appeared in Squid Game 2, people still hated on him. K-netz were waiting for the release just to criticize him, saying, “T.O.P’s acting is bad,” not even 5 minute lol Bro appear on ep 3 This deep hatred led to T.O.P deciding not to promote in Korea anymore. As far as I know, T.O.P has been battling depression since he was young because he was bullied and overweight. It’s also said that he may have mild autism. His family background is notable his grandfather was a famous artist, and his father was a high-ranking military officer, so he rarely saw his dad due to privacy reasons. Now, T.O.P is healthy and has cleared his name. He isn’t a junkie; he only smoked weed four times in his life.

The craziest thing is that this song IS that popular right now. If you played this anywhere in Korea OR Japan, people would lose their fucking minds. Last month-ish, GD returned to the MAMA awards stage and brought out several of the members of BIGBANG and they did Fantastic Baby and the place went absolutely ballistic. Yay! Bigbang was my first kpop group and TOP being my bias. This takes me back 🥹. And TOP has acted in movies years ago. I doubt its the connections because K-netizens were petitioning him being removed from the cast. He got in scandal while enlisted for smoking weed. When BIGBANG debuted, Kpop thrived once again and grew worldwide. They brought respect to the idol industry through becoming the first idols to produce their own music and do things their way. They've done so many first that no one would think was possible for an idol group( Yes, idols was look down upon a lot).Mind you, they were considered the ugly idol group when they debuted. They weren't the typical pretty boys, but they were so relatable, and their music was nostalgic and quite different from the rest. And they kept making hits after hits that no one can ignore them anymore. That's how they became a household name in SK and we international fans noticed them even before SK Entertainment began uploading Kcontent on KZbin back in 2008.

top’s been an actor, and if i’m correct he’s really close with lee jung-jae (player 456) who got him the role for squid game. he’s very very talented in his own right, but i think he was shunned from the k-industry for a while (nothing too serious, just substance use i think which is a way bigger deal in korea). he has some solo projects too but squid game really turned things back around for him and it’s so good to see him back and thriving.

Little inside on TOP character he plays who you have met in squid games ep 3 or 4 but I'm so happy to see T.O.P from bigbang here. He has always struggled with his mental health, has been diagnosed depression & anxiety disorder(lots to do with the fame he got since age 18) He has had many haters in the past but what had happened in 2017 he smoked a little weed with a friend bc he has high anxiety and the entirety of Korea started a hate train(very conservative country).Shortly after T.O.P tried to unalive himself was fortunately unsuccesful and was treated in the hospital but after that got even more heavily b*llied online again by the whole country(bc he is a big star over there) saying things like "he should've" or sending death threats or similar things.He completely left the industry (eventhough he has successfull music and acting awards) Korea treated him like dirt for smoking a little weed 3 times in his own home.Harming nobody. He left his whole life behind in Korea, didn't want anything to do with them anymore (rightfully so) after his suic*de attempt the hate was enormous and moved to the US and has gotten way better mentally, started acting again and this role(thanos) is basically a dig at how Korea made him out to be, like the korean media made T.O.P out to be this evil,psycho ruining wild on drugs when all he did was smoke a little weed in his own home,so now he portrays this psycho character on drugs like the media slanted his name as a dig to Korea in a very popular show. I'm sorry this has become a very long comment, thought it would be interesting for you guys to know the little inside to his character he plays, also just very happy to see him back acting his butt off and making music again(he is a real rapper irl) after all he has been through and kinda of taking his revenge on his country.
