i was in a terrible place mentally, this morning. then i heard this. it suddenly reminded me of something fundamental about life that i can't really put into words. i can't put it into words, but i know it's the opposite of all the stuff that makes me feel how i was feeling. so, thank you. on a side note, you legitimately have an incredible musical ear. EDIT: i made it as far as "let down" before i realised what the quality was: it's overflowing with love. that's why i no longer feel so awful...love.
@existinghuman4325 ай бұрын
man i totally get what you mean, for me it's like hearing this and suddenly remembering there's so many people out there who are still going on despite stuff going on in life rn. There's so many things that connect us as humans and it's nice to see someone doing things like this that might seem goofy but is still genuine. Sometimes it's easy to forget that there's hope, others that care for us and that we need to let loose once in a while.
@JibberJabJones5 ай бұрын
@@existinghuman432 the goofy stuff is always my favourite! if i had to choose between high polish and total goofery for the rest of my life, i would choose goof in a heartbeat! the way we are-how we only see our own sadness, and it takes being caught off guard to remember a lot of us are going through difficult things-it reminds me of movies where someone is in jail, in solitary confinement, and the only contact they can have with another soul is a sudden unexpected voice coming through the air vent in the wall, from another prisoner somewhere else, unseen. that's how it is with all of us, particularly when it comes to sadness. we're in a cold, dank room, alone...until we hear a voice coming through the vent from somewhere hidden...

This is my favorite album ever but I haven’t listened to it in over 7 years because Radiohead was me and my Dads favorite band growing up and our relationship soured when I was a teenager to the point where we no longer keep contact even now that I’m 28. So anytime I hear Radiohead I feel all those memories of abandonment and depression come rushing back so since then I have not listened to their music. I got this in my recommended today and even though I wasn’t going to click I knew i would appreciate this being that acapella is a big favorite of mine. I am so glad I did because hearing this album reinterpreted has allowed me to not only rekindle but to reform my appreciation for Radiohead. Hearing this has broken the curse placed on me by my own flashbacks. I can now enjoy this album again without being reminded of the negative memories I associate this with.

While I have no idea what happened between you and your dad, I hope my message to you may be of value. My relationship with my dad soured too, and it was due to his bad behavior and parenting, how he treated my mother. I took a necessary break for about 15 years. I felt ready to attempt to reconnect. There were limitations to how far we could get, but it was better than before. He passed away unexpectedly shortly after. While I have compassion for my younger self, and understand that my younger self wasn’t ready, I wish I had confronted him earlier, with the wisdom I have now. I wish you all the best ⭐️

i've always thought one of the major themes of OK Computer is how technology encroaches into our lives, so it's kind of poetic to recreate it with just the human voice (and a bunch of super clever effects). i expected this to be dumb but it's basically high art lmao
