Just a tip I have learned: for better planet images, first center the planet and then change to Lunar mode - then you can decrease the image brightness so that the planet is not overexposed.🙂

I wish I had seen your tip earlier. I was up at 4 am this morning observing the Jupiter-Mercury conjunction and my photo would not stack because they were overexposed.

Great presentation! I have two tips to add. Before going to Solar, start in Scenery to raise the scope to install the solar filter. Only then switch to Solar, to avoid pointing at the sun without the filter. At the beginning of every session, do a compass calibration. It only takes a couple of minutes, and speeds up the scope locating objects; especially the sun and the moon.

They are designed for EAA astronomy, not astrophotography, hence don't need an EQ mount as its designed to view objects live, but can take the individual fits and process them as you would astrophotography. The beauty is can setup and get going in 2 mins, whereas a good rig can be a good 30 mins or so, so reluctant to take it out of in an hour or 2 you know will be cloudy, as Seestar or other smart scope in and out in 2 mins so gets more use. Have known people with serious astrophotography gear sell them, due to a pain setting up and time consuming and gone with the likes of Stellina, Seestar and other smart scopes as so quick and covenant and great if you go camping, or an overseas trip, etc. Much easier to use. But no wont replace a serious rig, but can see their popularity grow due to convenance factor

@GalacticHunter The bad noise in the corners might come from the fieldrotation as this is an Alt-AZ mount. The corners don‘t get all the exposures and so you get the noise gradient when you stretch the image.

Great review. I received mine recently but have not had much imaging time due to clouds here in S. Texas. I like it because it's lightweight, simple to use and I can easily take it over to friends homes and set it up in no time for show and tale.

You don't have to, the image right out of the app will look fine depending on the target, but if you decide to process the data on your computer you will get muuuch more impressive results

Great job Dalia! I have a co-work who has young kids that are starting to develop an interested in space. They are looking for a telescope for casual use. In your opinion would this be a good choice for a novice looking to show their kids some deep sky objects? Thank you and clear skies.

I just watched your EV Scope review before watching this one of the SeeStar. Thank you for both. I am leaning toward the EV since it has an electronic eyepiece for the grandkids. The oldest is 5. The size of the SeeStar is appealing also. For kids and for the 2024 eclipse -- I'm interested in which you would choose.

50mm apperture is about 2.5 to 3 arcseconds of optical resolution. So the sensor is a good match. Maybe the IMX174 sensor would also be a good match, but that would mean a bigger sensor and maybe a field flattener already, means a more expensive optic and higher price point. Basically the same thing with the Vespera from Vaonis.

it does dithering automatically, so you can easily drizzle image while stacking on your own to achieve better resolution. its optics has potential to do 2x drizzling and I have good experience doing so

Addendum - Complaint. Charging my s50 as I sleep. All four solid red now and it is a sweet package. I am frankly upset that I did not have a cat in my box. I looked and even made my wife watch your vid and I feel I should have had a cat in the box. False advertising. Thanks for the good vids. //ji
