This album was so surprising, right? I'm not in the HSM target audience, so I was floored when she came out with Drivers License, followed by Deja Vu and Good 4 u. Based on those three, I was so curious about this album and it doesn't disappoint at all. One of the best debuts I've ever seen from an artist, and so impressive for a teenage writer. She's taken her teenage experiences and turned them into something that really transcends age. She's on my "buy immediately" list now, rather than just streaming. I really want to support these kinds of artists.

My biggest pet peeve for youtube reactors is when they pause a LOT to basically just talk and often don’t even offer any real commentary. It’s like: 15 seconds in: [pause] OH MY GOOOOOD, how COOOOOL 30 seconds: [pause again, tangent time!] I always try to find reactors who don’t pause so much because it ruins their reaction half the time 😭

I think hope ur ok hits hard specifically because it’s simple statements that everyone wants to hear from someone else. “I’m glad you were created,” “I miss you,” “I love you,” and “I hope ur ok.” Even though these statements are so simple and we want to hear them, often people don’t really SAY them directly. They say things like “I don’t know what I’d do without you,” “I wish we could see each other,” “love ya,” and generally just don’t tell people we hope they are ok. So it feels very important to hear these things. That’s my theory at least. Lol 💀

I have a classmate who's just like olivia. She's really good at composing and singing songs at a young age (She composed worship songs when she was 14), but i haven't really heard her write something outside worship or inspirational songs (She does sing pop songs). She does our cheers and jingles most of the time. I'm kinda sad she hasn't tried to expand her reach but i also respect her decision to dedicate her music to the church. I am glad and very empathetic towards olivia. I see my friend in her and it just makes me proud.

Happier is my favorite track off of SOUR too! It reminds me of a slow dance song you would hear at school dance that everyone would rush out to dance to with their dates, and it’s soooo interesting that the song is super bittersweet and very self-aware. I also really love the “but she’s beautiful / she looks kind / she probably gives you butterflies” line. Hits you like a damn truck 💀

I'm gonna be honest, I'm a man in my late 20's and when driver's license came out I thought it was like a joke sort of, like oh, another Billie eilish one hit wonder type, I was so confused as to why she went #1 out of nowhere (for those that had no idea who she was) for me it felt like she came out of nowhere so big, but then deja vu came and then good 4 u and I was like, oh shit she fr Olivia Rodrigo is legit! Her Sour album somehow just feels so nostalgic. Every single song in the album transports me into a specific time in my life even tho I can't relate to most of her songs lyrical wise. But every single melody and message just resonates and everything about Olivia and her writing just feels so authentic. I'm really excited for her future tbh especially for someone as young as her. My top 5 songs off Sour at the moment: 1. Jealousy, jealousy 2. Happier 3. Deja Vu 4. Traitor 5. Brutal
