I like that she is being respected as an actual artist instead of some actress that decided to do music because she really is a lyrical genius and is very talented
@speeeee353 жыл бұрын
That’s because she wasn’t a hugely established actress first. There are so many actresses who actually considered themselves singers first but made their name acting first. If you remember, when her first song came out “the girl from High school musical the musical the series” was an ongoing joke like “wth kind of show name is that”? And that’s because aside from tweens/teens who had Disney plus and also watched the show. My point is- her big fame came from singing. So we’re viewing her most in depth as a singer. If she had won an Oscar six months before this... we’d look at her as an “actress turned singer” no matter how many hits she had. Like how people see Jennifer Hudson as a singer, not an actress, even though she has a Best Supporting Actress Oscar on her shelf. Because we knew her as a famous singer for like 5+ years before she got her big movie roll. Relative.

She is this newer generation’s Taylor Swift. Hold up, listen. As a Swiftie who has been with her for the last 10 years, I got to grow up and learn all of life with her. It becomes a big part of your life and everything you are. I can thank TS for her songs teaching me what love is and isn’t. How deep love can be and feel. I still learn through her music to this day. A song from her Fearless album shows up on shuffle and I am 15 again and I can remember that exact time of my life and who I loved and who I was. It’s an indescribable feeling. Olivia is going to be that for the next generation and they are going to learn and grow so much from her music. She definitely is not just copying Taylor’s music, but is making her own and she’s creating that legacy and we don’t even know how far she’s going to go. But just know, she’s going to go far and I’m excited to see the inspiration she’s going to give to those who are like me back when I was 15. Absolutely amazing work.

Her producer looks at her like a Proud Dad would a daughter. They bounce ideas off each other really well ...she gives him credit constantly & he lets her create/explain the process freely. Tbh I had hoped the beginning of the song would be less, I guess slow-moving and almost drawn-out. But after hearing that it was a deliberate choice to have the beginning sound almost "off-putting and painfully calm", I thought it was interesting that they chose to do the opposite of what most would've done, with what's popular in music today. But I'm totally on board. Love their dynamic.

i'd love to see her work with Jack Antonoff someday! She's so well spoken for a 17 year old. Probably 16 when she wrote the song

she’s 18 now, and was 17 when she wrote it hahahah, you were off by a year :)

So interesting to hear about the production craft behind the song and how it took a few iterations. She has perfect vocals and he’s a really good producer.

Best artist / producer duo we’ve heard in ages. Such an authentic passion for what they do.

I love watching artists break down their music, like the songwriting, the entire process, the challenges and all that. It makes me appreciate them and their projects even more. It makes me understand how and why the song was put up in a certain way.

I love how Dan & his wife has become such close figures to her in her personal life too :')) she's very young, but that doesn't take away from her musical independence (which is something Dan is very good with as he's an indie artist himself); instead they guide her, and enable the works that she comes up with on her own. I'm so glad that she's working with people who are not forcing her to be some kind of way in this industry 🥲🤍
