The PS2 version have this unique "paper" filter, which gives the game a distinct watercolor-like appearance, is essential to its aesthetic. For example, the way sunlight filters through the leaves of a tree in the PS2 version looks like a real watercolor painting, whereas the HD version loses this effect. The PS2 version also features thicker art lines, adding to the game's hand-drawn charm. The HD version, while offering 4K resolution, lacks this filter and features thinner lines, diminishing the game's distinctive artistic style.

Did not expect this. My late grandma used to tell me stories of Amaterasu for me to sleep, some years down the line I found the first Okami game and played it a lot, showing it to her and playing in front of her... As I grew up I would always go back and listen to the theme, that brought me such joy, and would make me remember those days. And now, as I was watching the awards, some part of me knew when it started, and when the song picked up I couldnt hold back my tears. I'm sure that playing this will make me remember even more about the good times I had with my grandma. Thank you capcom!

Okami was a game ahead of its time in terms of aesthstics. If they go all in on upgrading the ukiyo-e artstyle for the modern gen it will be one of the most beautiful games I've ever played

Ukiyo-e is Japanese wood block printing. It has been a long time but I don't think they used that style. I thought okami used an ink and brush painting style that Japan adopted from china.

@MrMrbokchoi It's not just for the reproduction practice. Though, it plays a major role in popularizing it. Ukiyo-e means "floating world," and that refers to the composition of objects and senary not having defining spaces or positions in terms of perspective. Like how in a room, certain objects depicted at a distance behind the main subject had no horizon/ground lines to portray them as further away but we're placed directly above making the image as being more."flat'. The movement started as paintings but to distribute them to the masses, woodblock would be made to reproduce them along with fun ink techniques to also allow gradient color. The popular form involved lots of blues and reds. But anyways, both these things can be true since chinese art had a massive influence on Japanese art.

Okami was the first game I ever owned. My sister and I were gifted a Wii for Christmas by my dad's boss. That week my parents took us to Best Buy and said we could each pick out one game. I wasn't sure what to get, I'd played Mario at my friend's house and Rock Band at my cousin's, but didn't want to waste my choice on something I wasn't sure about. I just kept browsing and looking around, until the white wolf and bold red sun of Okami caught my attention. I spent hours and hours playing that winter vacation, exploring every nook and cranny of that gorgeous, vibrant world. Even now 15 years later, I still know it like the back of my hand. I cannot wait to explore more and fall in love with the world of Okami again.

I first got Okami when I was 10, and over ten years of writing "Okami 2" into every Capcom interest poll, it's here!!! I can't believe it! I was so sure after the silence from Kamiya and Nakamura after their teaser in 2019 that it'd never happen, and even more sure after he lfet Platinum Games. Without Okami, I would be a completely different person. This might actually be the best day of my life.

i get chills watching this Okami is the reason why i wanted to become a software developer, and developed a huge appreciation for art, I always use the game to motivate me and keep me on the right track whenever I had doubt within myself and also the reason why I went to college for Computer Science. i remember being 12 and working all summer for my Dad demoing houses, coming home dusty and dirty every day and exhausted just to get $49 I needed to buy Okami. That game truly changed my life I owe it for my career and where I am at life now. It was that moment I knew I wanted to do with my life when I played Okami

BRO I LISTENED TO OKAMI OST AGAIN YESTERDAY, I haven't rehear it in so long. Yesterday, I even read the comments made years ago saying there won't be a sequel because they already made the sequels and put it in the base game. This morning seeing all the trailers and I thought it would be so funny if there's an Okami 2 trailer. AND THERE IS! Bro the coincidences don't even make sense anymore.
