This game was amazing when it first came out, and it's still amazing now. At $20, the HD rerelease is frankly a bargain, and the Switch might be the best console to play it on. Touchscreen drawing is amazing.

I had it on PC for awhile but just got it on sale on switch because i always found the paintbrush was lost on pc without a touch/aim mechanic. Looks AMAZING on the Oled as well.

Folks, you gotta get this game! Bit of a slow start, but man, everything about it is just incredible! The review is intentionally vague so as to not spoil later stuff, but the abilities you get later and trials you face in the latter portions are phenomenal! Enemies later on require more complex strategies, forcing you to use every brush power in your arsenal! This game is exciting, intriguing, and wildly entertaining! Do not pass this one up! $20 IS A STEAL!

So I absolutely loved my DS and I still play my 3ds probably more often than my Switch. A few years ago I was digging into a bargain bin and found Okami Den. It sounded good so I grabbed it, and omg it was absolutely STUNNING for a DS game and so enjoyable. I never found out until much later that okami Den was a sequel to this absolutely gorgeous and moving game. And not long after I found out, the Switch port was announced. This game is so underrated I don't know why people arent holding this up with the all time greatest games. It's so beautiful and so enjoyable. It such a great game to come home and play after work and be able to relax. Porting it to Switch is perfect with the touch screen. I'm so happy everyone is enjoying this so much. 💓

Just finished it a few days ago for the first time ever and this is one of the best games I have ever played. The story, characters and world has so much personality and charm to it and it aged pretty well thanks to it's unique art style and gameplay. Highly recommend it, especially on Switch.

I see you had a few problems with the brush recognition... I changed the camera to mimic BoTW and then put the celestial brush to L instead of R - touch screen for the brush while holding L then makes this much easier to control the brush. 👌🏻

I'm stoked to get this game. I played way back in the PS2 days and was blown away. It's a true masterpiece. I DO remember the combat being kinda easy, but the gameplay experience was more about experiencing the story than having to "git gud" in order to play it. Remember that ? When games didn't have to be punishingly difficult to be good, and could be just fun to play ?

alex what're you talking about the music is hype as fuck also the combat does increase in complexity and variety as you progress through the game. it may still be kinda easy but it's fun and satisfying, and the enemy variety really makes use of all your weapons and brush skills. I wouldn't write it off as a negative just for being fairly simple/easy, it has its strengths

I remember this game well when it was released 18 years ago. I still play to this day. I've had it on the PS2, Ps3 download, PS4 and now I have it for my Switch. If you haven't played this game and this review isn't convincing enough, just note it won Game of the Year for Playstation in 2006 when it was released. I'll always love this game ❤

I've always loved the look of this game, and had it on PS2 all those years ago. The control was so wonky, though, I ended up putting it down and never playing it again. I now wonder if playing on Switch would make the controls flow a bit more easily. Might have to try it again!

It's on Amazon with Prime shipping for only $36. It's the NTSC-J version. Soo Japanese version? The reviews said when you put it into the Switch it automatically detects the language. Only downside is if there were any DLC (maybe patches?) you would want an Asian account. Pretty great deal honestly.

I already have the Wii version, but I'm debating whether or not to trade it in for the Switch version. I can't see much difference in the graphics tbh, so I don't really care about the HD part, but I don't think I got very far with the game originally (last part I can remember is looking for some dogs) and I'm more likely to play on my Switch than the Wii these days, so maybe on the Switch I'll be actually get around to finishing it.

I feel like this review isn't very accurate tbh. You need to remember that this came was for the PS2 and has simply been slotted through the HD printer. I played it back on the ps2 as a kid and just last month on my switch and it was nothing but beautiful, nostalgic fun. The game is just as fun as I remember and the nostalgia alone really is what made it. If you go into this came 100% remembering that it's a PS2 GAME that's simply been put into HD - you'll enjoy it. It's a lot of fun and the music is honestly a lot better than I even remember.

I struggled with the motion controls using the Wiimote for the paintbrush powers when I tried to play it back in the day. This version has touch screen and classic controller styles, so I'll buy it & give it a second try.

Okami 2 better be ready to launch along Bayonetta 3 when i'm finished... Edit. Remember the game being completed after Orochi back in the day, only to go nuts when the world opened up :)

Only issues I had back then on the Wii version were the controls, mainly towards the end with some of the last brush moves. Sometimes the game wouldn't know what I was doing and I ended up wasting time trying to do something over and over again. Also the Wii version had some weird graphical glitch...anyways was wondering if these pop up here or not.
