I've actually played a Jaws Premium, and it's a heck of a lot of fun. Looks great. Sounds great. Flips great. Shots are super satisfying. It's an extremely good game that makes a much better impression in person.

Complaining about having too many video assets is the equivalent of someone saying, “My dinner has too much lobster.” said no one. Ever. ;) I can only fit one pin in our home and looking all the current releases, even though Jaws was released ten years before I was born, hunting a monster is just a great timeless concept. The concept of collecting various gear like darts and barrels to hunt various species of sharks appeals to me much more than say Elton John where you are collecting shoes and sunglasses… Labyrinth? Honestly I have no idea what that is. Still don’t. Looks like muppets or something. Pulp fiction is an amazing theme but just a single level playfield. I’m afraid it won’t hold interest as my single pin collection. Harry Potter and Back to the future would be two Amazing themes though but I would never spend the kind of money that Jersey Jack and Dutch Pinball are going to be asking for. Foo fighters I only like two or three songs and hearing the same music over and over would drive me nuts. So what am I left with by? Pretty much Godzilla or Jaws. The timeless John Williams score, Full video assets, campy voice acting from “Quint,” and what appears to be innovative shots with the 180 ramp and roving fin my money went to a Jaws premium. Artwise, personally and honestly it looks a lot better than Godzilla which looks like someone threw up a palette of half digested skittles.

The lack of strength in the used pinball market has me holding games for the foreseeable future. I don’t expect a used game to be worth more than NIB but losing around $3k on a 1-2 year old game plus having to pay tax and mod out a new game makes me uninterested in buying new anymore. I also think Stern needs to pack more into their Premiums for the price to be worth it. The only way I’m buying new is if a grail theme comes out and the designer nails integration and flow with the game, something like a modern Simpsons with new episode assets.

I played the Premium and Pro. I have a lot of time on all the other Elwin pins. Here’s how I would rank them: JP Maiden Godzilla AIQ Jaws For me, the lack of ball interactive devices (no Magnets, no VUKs, no Scoops, no Subways, no Diverters, no Physical Ball Locks) left it an uninspiring experience. Also, I prefer upper playfields that are a mini playfield not a 1-shot affair that puts the ball back on the main playfield so that didn’t help. It also doesn’t help that the shot to get it up there can get rejects. Regarding video assets, it’s great having so many clips. However, one moment I’m putting a barrel in Jaws (aka Bruce) then a night swim clip pops up, then a girl is yelling shark on the beach, then something else…all within like 15 sec. What am I doing? Also, why am I hunting a Mako shark? This is Jaws. I know there are folks who really like it. Great news for Stern/Elwin and those who have one coming. It’s just not for me

I know it's your opinion, but I don't know how you can put JP above Godzilla. I bought a JP premium when it first came out. Traded it in for a Godzilla premium and never regretted it. Godzilla shots are so much more satisfying overall and it's just more fun to play in general.

@@LaddPhoto1 Well, it’s simple. I enjoy playing JP more than Godzilla so that shouldn’t be too hard to understand. That’s what makes pinball unique - everyone enjoys different things and some folks are not going to like pins in the same way you do. Jaws is another perfect example of this.

Cary, I was actually in a large room today (big London arcade expo) with Labyrinth, Elton John, Pulp Fiction, Galactic Tank Force and Jaws (Pro and Prem). Sadly, it’s not in the same league as the other manufacturers’ pins on current code, and that seemed to be the general consensus from almost everyone who I spoke with. Don’t know if that’s the theme, or the physical production quality, but it feels like it’s only going to sell because most buyers are either massive Jaws fans, or won’t have the opportunity to compare it with other recently-released pins on location.

That upper playfield shot left of the chum bucket looks as if it doesn't work right. At one point, Elwin had it come to back at him three times in a row and he gave up on the shot for a bit. It just looks off. This theme doesn't do it for me. I think it looks a lot better now after the df stream, but it just doesn't excite me.

During the initial playthrough my son and I busted out our Kevin Moore 3D glasses stash and it worked. It's not super impressive and I don't see people bothering with it after the initial playthrough, but it's a fun nod to Jaws 3D.

I actually like the Pro model. I still think that two pop bumpers in the area where the ORCA area is in the Premium and LE would have made the machine complete like Deadpool Pro. (Deadpool, in my opinion, is the top tier standard for Pro model pinball machines from Stern) Stern really needs to consider snatching up the license for Beetlejuice. That title has so many possibilities for an amazing pinball machine. Moreover, if Stern could get Michael Keaton for the callouts; that would be epic.

Logan’s Arcade pro stream was horrible. Too dark, and too loud. So hopefully someone does a better when or it shows up locally so I can play it. Premium gameplay definitely better, but hasn’t moved me to buy NIB. Moved the needle closer to a premium over a pro, but going to wait and see. Will wait 6 months or more to think about getting or Looney Tunes.

How you can trap the right upper flipper and have that ball drop right into the inlane is pretty BA...I could watch that all day. The way the ball travels into the inlanes in all his games have interesting geometry. Good stuff. Not gonna buy because I can't but will put quarters in where I find it.

Good take. I love the theme but can't decide my position. However, it's leaking towards grab a second hand LE in a few months. Like most, I wish Jaws would eat the ball. As an owner of Bond 60th, I definitely like it more than AIQ and find it's simplicity reminds me of JP. Great sound package as well. If you ever come to PA to see Todd, you're welcome to play. Can't wait for your thoughts if you find one in the wild.

AiQ is still his best layout and imo one of the best layouts ever in pinball, if it was not for the complexity of the code it would be a top 10 pin imo. The pin has the most satisfying shots ever imo. There are just so many I just love shooting that game so much.

7:04 Stern had the movie assets for 10 Godzilla movies from the first era (10 out of 15) of Godzilla films... Only a few franchises have more than that (Godzilla's has 30+ total live action movies). I've never seen the Bond pinball game and don't know how many of those films they had the rights to or if they had full movie rights...

I feel like Stern started going too far with the video screens when Batman 66 came out. There's just always some clip from the show playing at all times, complete with distracting sound effects. I am going to go play Jaws later today, I hope it's not the same.

The 2nd stream was definitely better! Love the flipper trap ball, the sound it’s better than I thought, average art and even with the emptiness and poor light show the game it’s good. But still it costs 9k Pro, 12k Premium and 15.5k for an LE here in Europe for an average game. So, forget it, it’s too expensive and times right now are not a joke...I’m happy ppl can afford it. Just like you said, it will take more to convince me to pay 10k+, let’s see what happens in the next 12 months.

You could dislike it, but I think you're overlooking a movie that is an all time masterpiece for its Hitchcock styled atmopshere and tension, incredible soundtrack, action, set pieces, and actors who knock it out of the park. I totally get not liking a theme. It is always subjective, but it seems a little disingenuous to knock this particular theme when it was number 2 on the hype index. Sure, it could represent just a fraction of the playerbase, but it is no doubt an indicator for how often requested Jaws was. It's been talked about for a number of years now. That said, as good as it looks, it does look to have some less flow than Godzilla, but I think the moments are some of, if not the most important in pinball, and you nailed how well they are hitting it, especially for, again, a beloved, tension and action filled movie like this.

I like the idea of the 3 shot captive ball if the shots are make or break.I couldn't tell but would love to have that as a kill mode if you hit the wrong lit target.That would be some real targeting.I think it's crazy how I can slam a captive ball all day no matter where but I can't hit a 3 times as big ramp.

After watching the 16-minute premiere with Keith it was a definite no. After watching the Stern live-stream, I appreciate it slightly more but still not enough to buy it. My next step is to play it which I just located a pro and premium close to me so hopefully soon. After that I will edit this with my final opinion.

Most games behind you Last Action Hero for example isn’t a theme that speaks to most but it’s an entertaining film. Assets/Elwin future code will beat out in the long run most/all titles in the last couple of years. What’s on the horizon that’s better? Remakes 💩

Why not just put a flipper lock button under the right flipper button like black knight magna save... Seems a little ridiculous to use your knee or face to hit the action button located away from your hands. I can understand the distance for other games but for this it seems like a bad design choice

Crazy that this was 0.82 code and Foo is .99 and is missing so many callouts... Played in a quiet showroom (Captains) the audio is great, lots of orchestra. I love the opening of the game. It plays a whole scene not just a short clip

Cost and Code.... Why buy jaws in an incomplete state when Stern already make other games that are more complete. Heck in the current climate you're waiting for a game to "get good" while it depreciates. Best example for me is that Bond is "good" now after a year or so and I dont have it... so i'd buy that over Jaws for sure. If Jaws gets better, cool but we're well past the point of missing out due to stock shortages. If you want one down the line, you'll be able to get one. Simple. Stern (and other manufacturers) are really gonna have to think hard about announcing and launching games in a half baked state now there is so much competition out there. There's choice...

This game looks like a grind fest. More so than other Elwin games. Out of all the gameplay I've seen from people, Elwin is the only one who made it to the second hunt. There is a lot of wood chopping in those modes.

OK, you don't like the pinball theme, it's too expensive, Stern is a terrible company that only thinks about making money (unlike you)... luckily, it's not guys like you who are agitating on KZbin who make the market and who Stern is speaking to. For my part, I think that this pinball machine is very good , that the adaptation of the theme is perfect and that it will be a commercial success. Lol, reading the title I thought "What's he complaining about now?" but I have to agree that even though I'm buying Jaws this theme does nothing for me (any other designer and I probably would have passed). I'm not sure why people wish for dry dramatic movie themes. Just because a movie is "great" doesn't necessarily make it a great theme but the idea of hunting sharks (similar to JP) made me think this could be more fun than if they just followed the original film. For effects when you hit the shark they could use the bass/shaker effect GTF uses when you hit the tank with some added splash sound :). It looks like a fun shooter and the stream showed it off well. Elizabeth was a great contributer on the stream not only playing well but giving a ton of rule/scoring info I just wish I could have heard her better when she wasn't playing...

JAWS is a classic theme....the music of John Williams the movie is a classic horror film and a movie made for guys. Just look at the table and you see limited shots...heck even Elwin seemed disappointed in the upper playfield ramp shot as he missed several and they came back down on him. This is the designer of the friggin game and you see his frustration playing the game....you know Stern CHOGGARD'ED him into making cutbacks on the layout and design of the game. The price is completely INSANE for an LE....$13,000. This will not sell as many units as they had hoped especially in this economy. Heck food costs are rising once again if anyone hasn't noticed on your trips to the grocery store lately! I don't know how familes are getting by right now....I assume by the skin O their teeth! And it's going to get worse....unless of course we change that in November!

It's a little baffling to me that they made a 3D mode at all. It's a cute nod to Jaws 3D, but still. It will be used so rarely I hope you can just turn that option off. I agree the sound design is the best part of the game. They clearly spent a lot of time on the sound, that was the first thing I noticed. But I play in arcades, so again, that's at best a neutral improvement. If the table isn't fun without sound, they shouldn't make it. Making a table aimed at home use only and not operators is such a weird choice.
