Jennie is pure Korean but grew in New Zealand that's why she's fluent. Same for Rosé but she grew in Australia. Lisa is Thai and is fluent in English, Thai, Korean, and Japanese. Jisoo is the only one who was born and raised in South Korea and is not as fluent in English as everyone else but she knows to speak Japanese as well.

Regarding SHUT DOWN: As BLACKPINK is known for their incredible visuals in their videos, SHUT DOWN is an exception. Although there are splashes of color it is more "stark" for a reason. Every set and major prop in the video is a callback to an earlier BLACKPINK music video (The tank, pier, katana, bathtub, umbrella, large ball and the set with Jisoo singing in front of a picture of herself). As you watch their other music videos you'll see the things that were used in this video. SHUT DOWN's meaning is two fold. They're "shutting down" their haters (K-Pop is highly competitive and fandoms of other artists always have some toxic fans leaving hate comments) but they're also "closing the doors" on their older music and "leveling up" to the newest version of BLACKPINK. At the end of the video they take the elevator UP and exit onto an empty hallway filled with doors, which represents their next songs and the next "version" of BLACKPINK.
