I was just going to play my free trial. Just play up to Heavensward and then quit at level 60. But then I went through The Parting Glass. That hooked me. I didn't realize how much I cared about the Scions until that happened. Subbed and bought all expansions right then and there.

I got this far into the MSQ without being too emotional over any one moment, but Nanamo being poisoned was gut-wrenching. I think it was mostly because they showed it in all the awful details: *That look in her eyes when she realized something was wrong. *The look of terror when her airway closed and she couldn't breathe. *The way she reached out to you begging for help, tears in her eyes. They could have wussed out and just showed her on the ground. Instead, they made you watch every horrible second; that's when I realized FFXIV doesn't fuck around with story. They'll show you all the things, even the things you wish you didn't have to see just to make sure you feel the full, terrible impact.😢

Hahaha, Nanamo didn't "fall for Thancred" as well. He says Papashan had told him about it. Papashan was the head of the Sultansworn (now retired, but still gets involved in things now and then), her closest guards of the paladin order. Papashan is in the list of awesome lalafells. I will say this - people often act shocked and betrayed at the end with Urianger, but....I never quite felt that way. We know the Emissary acts differently as he did with Mifnillia. He didn't attack her, he only came to talk and only reacted when he was attacked. And the title "emissary" would suggest he's more of a liaison to speak to others, kind of like an ambassador negotiates between nations. Urianger was summoned, he answered, and merely says "make thine intent known" so he's kind of just saying "Alright, I'm here...what do you want?" so I never had the same reaction a lot of people do. The voice acting takes off in Heavensward. Essentially, they got budget. Tataru's voice actress gets better and better as well. Honestly, they just keep getting better from here, especially with some of the characters introduced wayyyy later in Shadowbringers. Shadowbringers has a series of voice actors just one upping each other on delivering emotion with their scenes. I must warn you, for as those who walk before should lead those who walk after, that the end of A Realm Reborn is not even close to the emotional turmoil you have yet to face...time, and time, and time again on your journey. Stand tall, my friend. ^-^
