Remind me of the time in army basis training We’re all getting punish for failing the exercise and is ask to stand in attention for an hour, any movement found will reset the time, after the 50 min mark the platoon sgt ask his Assistant to tell a joke, we keep getting our time reset until we end up doing over 3 hours standing there at night laughing at every little thing the assistant do. im assuming they were trying to get rid of her hicups. if so then the laughing part is not needed. like she said they are diaphragm spasms. inhaling as much as you can to the point your chest feels tight and waiting like 5 seconds will be enough. think of it like your tightening the area around the part that spasms forcing it to stop. hicups would be like a chain reaction. one happens which causes the next to happen and so on so by forcing it to stop at least once cycle of spasming you stop the hicups all together. at least that's how I view it since it has a 100% success rate for me. but you also have to breathe in the right way. a lot of people breathe in but it goes in the wrong way. you need to feel your chest feel tight like your lungs are pushing against your ribs if you don't feel that you didn't do it right. its why some people say it doesn't work since they don't do it right in the first place.
