This is a moving story and also very informative. Buddhist monk UesedoTomoko is a national treasure. Hope someone has recorded her singing and the lyrics (also all her stories).. Glad to see the songs are being transmitted to the next generation.

Asadoya Yunta Song - We normally play the Japanese version of the song. This is a very popular song among western people and was featured in the movie "Tea House of the August Moon," starring Glenn Ford. Nasukawa Rimi - is featured in this video also. She is one of the most popular Okinawa Female singers today. So basically they are singing the old Okinawa language. The dialect on this Island is different that other Okinawa dialects on the mainland of Okinawa. The song Asadoya Yunta originated on this Island and is much different than the Japanese Version. So now we are singing this version for purity. Taketoma Island 2014.
