Sounds to me like he has a lot of daddy issues. He's trying to prove to his parents that he's talented and can be as great as they were by showing off to the "world" all the places he's been and such. EDIT: Maybe his lashing out to fellow comedians is his way of saying he didn't have much of a father figure growing up to place as a role model. When he did find others that were role models, they didn't have much respect for him. I mean, who can blame them for the kind of brand he has... but what ever. If he's high on life and living it up in his own way, that's all that matters.

@lc92453 жыл бұрын
Most kids are bullied because they are weird, in a way that pisses off other kids, especially after they told them to stop and they don’t. There’s nothing wrong with being weird, but making others uncomfortable or annoyed and refuse to stop will result in that. Bullying is a sort of social mechanism to iron out a person rough edges, habits that they picked up from their parents failure to straighten them out. I won’t be surprised if he was bullied because he couldn’t stop bragging about how much better he is than everyone else and belittle them, or lashing out at kids who criticise him.
@InsanityOtter9833 жыл бұрын
@@Eldritch_Panda31 nah, it is very possible for people who are bullied at a young age to grow into adults who exhibit a similar sort of tactic once they have enough of a platform to do so. Some people learn from being bullied and become kinder for it, but others become bitter and hateful and remain immature.
@fightinandirish3 жыл бұрын
@@lc9245 I'd agree that bullying can act as a sort of social conditioning practice, weed out weirdness and iron it out. However I was bullied because I was short for my age, a "late bloomer", and I was quiet. A perfect target. In retrospect, the kids who bullied me most were often, ironically, the least popular of their friend groups. They weren't really normal either, they did some weird shit that I won't go into. They were trying to move up the totem poll by pushing me and other kids down. Only thing I learned from them was to not be a giant cunt like them. Looks like this Dan guy is doing the same thing. Got pushed down and decided to pass on his negativity rather than kill it. Common thing sadly. Bullying isn't fool proof.
@lc92453 жыл бұрын
@@fightinandirish You know those rich kids who turned out to be dickheads? That's because their social economic situation affected their relationship in school. Nobody bullies them and they can get what they want easily. Bullies don't just include physical activities, but also psychological activities such as being berated, isolated and I think the most humane form of bullying, being analysed by your peer, who tell you how much of a piece of shit you are purely based on fact. Those words are important for personal growth, and they don't come from being protected. I know personal struggle might feel rough, but only by overcoming them would you become a better person. I had a moment when I become friend with my bully, which made me realised society isn't cruel, it's fair. Of course it's only as fair until they ran home to their parents.
@omegakyratian4133 жыл бұрын
@@lc9245 Bro you can't just superimpose your situation onto others. There are people getting bullied for being born different, eg: a speaking disorder. Some of these people are bullied to the point of suicide for no other reason than to entertain the bullies or make them feel better about themselves. They get bullied by others because those others don't want to become targets by showing compassion. Where is the fairness in that? Do you think these people needed to be 'weeded out' because they are different? There is no fairness in bullying. Putting someone in their place and bullying are very different.

Dan sending emails on thanksgiving and Christmas about how successful he is is the saddest thing. He's sat, alone, on days he should be surrounded by loved ones and his only solace is firing off emails filled with lies then sitting back and telling himself "they're so jealous of me right now."

@ArawnNox4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised, too, if you did some digging and found out a lot of his lavish lifestyle is inherited from his dad. He was a software engineer at the dawn of computing. He surely made some good cash. A lot of people in the comments ready to jump on the mom for being a child psychologist or a steriotypical 'cold asian mom' but lets not forget, indian parents also place a lot of pressure on their kids to perform as well. I, for one, don't believe his stories of being bullied. He has no concrete answer for the type of bullying and he looks down and left when giving the answer. He's inventing childhood trauma. Or at the very least convincing himself that any teasing he got was worse than it really was.

@@ArawnNox I agree completely. I think many asian societies, given the competitive job markets and large urban populations, creates incredible stress for children at ayoung age. There is a very empathetic person inside of me that says he has pretty severe self-esteem issues from horrible bullying in his childhood. And wanting to be liked and accepted isn’t something to make fun of someone for. It’s the core of the human experience, esp for ppl with bad self-esteem/worth. And that anger and lashing out and selfishness and arrogance and paranoia are all symptoms of trauma and PTSD. And that he should be allowed to make jokes about anything he wants. Including ethnic jokes. I’m Indigenous and if I can’t make peace-pipe and wampum jokes…then no one can. And comics should leave other comics alone, as they know how hard it is. And I feel for that little bullied boy inside him who just wants ppl to like him and to make them laugh and to be accepted. But then the rational part of me sees a grown man who didn’t take the initiative to heal, to get better. He forced others to feel the pain he felt instead of dealing with those hard emotions himself so he could be a better person.
@StreakyBaconMan Жыл бұрын
At the end of the day it's no excuse to behave the way he does. It might go some way to explaining it, but there are millions of other people have experienced just as bad as he did or worse and don't treat people the way he does. He's just got that personality where he has to believe he's better than everybody, and any time anybody does or says anything that could cause him to question that it causes him to lose his goddamn mind.
@user-jb1mb5xh9t Жыл бұрын
I think its very unlikely, given his track record with lying because he thinks it makes him look better, that he actually WAS bullied. It seems more like to me that he probably had a figure in his life, probably a parent, that didn't express any faith in his career choice or ability to make money from comedy. Resulting in this insecure and angry man that jumps immediately to belittling others careers, calling them losers, because they criticised him and it "confirmed" that belief - whether that was an internal fear or came from someone else - that he made a bad choice and isn't good enough to make it properly.

I learned years later that the guy ended up becoming a drug addict (heroin) and owed a lot of money to the kinds of people you *don't* wanna owe money to. And tbh, at first I had the initial "wow, guess he got what was coming," but after thinking about it for more than a few seconds, I really don't feel that great hearing how he ended up. It doesn't bring any form of closure to the event for me, it happened and I got over it a long time ago. People like him, they don't take the time think about it. How something makes them feel is always an immediate reaction and that reaction is how they stay about the issue forever. It's the same reason he can't stand criticism, it's the same reason he sends thousands of emails to other comedians making fun of him. He doesn't have anyone to share that with or make memories with. The fact that he berated your fiancé shows how cowardly and spineless the nasty piece of trash is. He wouldn't ever talk man to man... I know someone who has worked 4-5 corporate gigs where Dan was on and he acted like he was a mega star and would hound every single woman aged 18-32, and if you don't praise him he gets VERY agitated... I was relentlessly bullied as a kid too. And it also led to me aggressively lashing out against any insult, real or perceived, because the treatment turned me into such a reflexively defensive person. I couldn't tell constructive criticism from banter from attacks, and treated everything like the latter. The difference is that by the time I was 20, I acknowledged the problem and actively started working to fix it. Now in my mid-30s, I'd consider myself to be fairly well-adjusted. Dan Nainan seems to have taken the opposite route and leaned in on the aggressive douchebaggery. At the end of the day, the person he's abusing most is himself. Everyone he lashes out at forgets it 10 minutes later. Meanwhile, I guarantee that he's replaying every slight against him in his head every waking moment, just fuming and getting himself more and more angry over it. It's toxic, but he's the one bathing in the venom while occasionally splashing it on others.
