When running Capacitors in series, you get LESS Capacitance (formula = 1 (1/c1 + 1/c2/ 2/c3), so you are getting around 73pf capacitance. You are getting enough KV in series to handle your 30KV coil. You would get better results with one capacitor of required KV because the capacitance of one capacitor would be higher than series capacitance. Your test using multiple strings of capacitors increased current, because you kept adding 73PF each time, by adding capacitors strings in parallel.

Brilliant demonstration of how capacitance can create a stronger spark - however, most motorist wont see much gain unless there ignition system is very weak by design or you have modified the engine IE:- fitted a bigger turbo or increase the amount of boost to produce more power and the intake charge is too dense for the standard ignition system to fire it ! None the less im sure this will help those who need it - great work sir !

Great video this help with performance most people don't know that a bad spark reduce power and waist fuel you can do this just with the coil no inverter and it will work to if you have a weak coil this will help you

Prabens for work, I can use 3x220pf / 15kv with my coil, SPA Turbo X-Force ignition coil 60.000V ignition coil Standard pole with center Pin a stronger spark will make sure that all the fuel inside the engine ignites, resulting in higher HP, and fuel economy Maximum Voltage: 60,000 Volts Primary Resistance: 0.3 Ohms Secondary Resistance: 6.5k Ohms Inductance: 3mH Turn ratio: 85: 1 Peak Current: 300mA

There are 3 ways to change from regular negative ignition to positive ignition. With small battery draw, a cylinder type motorcycle coil can be used with accessory Stens ignition module. Just follow instruction sheet, and switch leads + and - . The magnetos and Magnetrons use the magnet energy from flywheel. The second method is to purchase the older style pre 1982 Magneto only, which is just a transformer. Make sure of small or regular size as 12HP engine. Mount upside down and add the Stens accessory trigger module with directions. Add high voltage diode with cathode band facing forward, and will prove Positive high volts output. The briggs brand trigger module can also be used , you have to file edges to get it to fit on metal core leg. Briggs regular Magnetrons will not work upside down because of the embedded Briggs brand trigger. The Stens unit works both as plus and minus trigger. 3rd method is to use existing modern NEW STYLE Briggs Magnetron with embedded trigger type as only UNIVERSAL TRIGGER. The new China modules have this with a push terminal. Briggs sells this also now with their imprint in unit but higher priced. Mount as normal on engine mount with change as -- 2 plastic MM washers underneath core to insulate , and 2 plastic metric screws to tighten with gap set about .012" against flywheel. Put rubber boot plug wire to chassis ground, and obtain another insulated ignition cable to connect to metal of magneto under screw, and out to plug. You can then also test with 10kv diode. Units with universal trigger work at lower RPMS for starting, as like the very old style lawnmowers did .Circuits as these work better as when running extra energy with the sparking plug. And of cource you would have to verify zero ohms spark pl;ug, or exchange the internal resistor of Champian plug with #12 copper wire at top of plug.

Is impressive how the spark plug really increases the power. But the is question how long the spark plug last without failure due to electrodes worn out or cracked porcelain? On the other hand, I cannot see how you can put the capacitors on the engine without the terminal caps arcing?

Capacitance in serries add like this.. (C total)=1/(1/c1 +1/c2 + 1/c3 +.... 1/cn), while the voltage rating raiting is the sum of each.

Your ignition system will be making less than 5 KV with that spark gap so won't run an engine. To do a real test, open the spark gap to 3 cm and repeat with the capacitors.

It does absolutely gain my interest to see this. Is it true that the spark plug contact areas will rapidly erode from this treatment & the " gap" should become greater & greater as the metal itself is lost at the molecular level from the intense electrical discharge?

Yes, the bigger the spark the faster the erosion of the electrodes. I use only 73 pF for my car, that is a good compromise for me. I have tried water plasma circuit and all electrodes were gone before I reached 300 km.

сама свеча имеет активное сопротивление в керамическом канале. Он его просто замыкает через конденсаторы, котроые имеют значительно меньшее сопротивление для высокой частоты. Ничего удивительного. Кроме как для незнающих этот момент

LOL, Capacitors are storing the current on each cycle then releasing when the arc ignites each pulse. The frequency change is due to the circuit resonance and if you notice, the current output from the HV supply basically cant handle much more than two strings of caps. The RFI increases thanks to the higher current flows. Shitty camera Mic used that is getting swamped by it.

Successively line: 220pF 15 kV x 3 = 73...pF 45 kV max. Finale parallel 4 line: 73,33...pF 45 kV x 4 = 293...pF 45kV - common capacitor!

Sorry for my ignorance but instead of linking 3 x 220pf capacitors could you use 1 capacitor that is 660pf (3 x 220)? or something similar? Just wonder why you need 3 caps instead of just 1. Great videos btw!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Hi Mppforall, I use strings of 3 capacitors because I don't want to damage my capacitors. Each of my capacitor is rated at 15 kV and the output of ignition coil is around 30 kV. Just to be at the safe side I connect 3 of my caps to make equivalent of 1 cap with 45 kV rating. But then I reduce the total capacitance. Now instead of 220 pF, I only have around 73 pF but with higher voltage rating of 45 kV. Thanks for watching.

Interesting... So by breaking down one 45kv capacitor into 3 smaller capacitors you reduce the capacitance that flows into the spark plug from 220pf to 73pf... but you keep the same voltage of 45kV.... Do I understand this correctly?

Josh Withrow as you add capacitors in series, the total capacitance decreases. The spark plug is basically an inductor and a capacitor so it’s an LC circuit. For LC Circuits, frequency = 1/(2pi*sqrt(LC)) where L is inductance and C is capacitance. So as he decreases the capacitance, it’s making the denominator of that equation smaller so larger frequency

Saya pakai 3 kapasitor di yang tersambung ke bagian ring busi dan ke bagian ujung atas busi di cop busi, perbedaanya 1. Suara knalpot semakin menggelegar 2. Ada effect responsif di akselerasi maupun RPM atas Namun itu semua harua di imbangi dengan menggunakan coil racing dan busi racing , selain itu pemasanganya harus benar2 tertutup dan rapi, sedikit saja bocor, akan keluar percikan api di bagian cop busi atau kabel kapasitornya dan mesin bisa nyala namun susah hidupinya

Thank you! The voltage is the output of car ignition coil and the frequency is around 200 Hz.

Just put platinum or iridium plugs. If you knew how engines work you would realise that you are making a weaker spark under compression and shortening the spark duration which = less power. Its a nice spark plug display to show your friends though. You need a strong solid single spark to make power, use fine electrode platinum or iridium and its done.

So its actually a smaller spark, since the ionized air being compressed then? Sorry I'm just asking, I dont have any electronics or engineer background. And so, this kind of method is better for making a wider gap of stun gun's contact points, maybe?

madazz01 But as far as i know, iridium spark plug had a resistor inside to prevent electrical damage for modern car e.g ECU, if so, then plasma ignition will never create ? Correct me if i'm wrong..

I’ve only been to Papua, which I hear is kind of a bad part, but even then it seemed nice to me. Loved all the long, lazy looping rivers I saw from the plane.

A very brave man using your fingers! Ok at least if the ignition circuit was not grounded and you did get a clout it would hopefully be between just your fingers! Trouble is with high voltages, grounding can take place anywhere!! Lol , great demo though.

With this simple plasma ignition you will not reduce the spark plug life that much. I have this system on my car and I did not see excessive wear of my spark plugs. Your statement is only true with actively charged capacitor plasma ignition which I also have once installed on my car.

Okki Moeljadi every spark removes surface atoms....the more powerful or the more frequent the sparks are....the more surface get pulled away.....so yea the spark plugs will wear down alot faster.

Thanks for liking my videos. This should work with any ignition coil including the one from 110 cc motorbike. You need to find the correct value of the capacitor for your ignition coil. Maybe you can start with 50 pF.

I use only one string of capacitors per spark plug on my car. I have reported the result on one of my videos. I don't know if it's useful for your engine or not.

Okki Moeljadi To use on a motorcycle, 3x220 is to much isn't it? A single cylinder motorcycle, 125cc, do you have a number that I can use instead of the 3x220?

If 73,3 pF (3 x 220 pF caps in series) is too much for your engine, you can put 4 x 220 pF caps in series (you will get 55 pF instead) or even 5. You have to find the optimum value yourself, I don't know your ignition coil.

If this work so good... than any car factory used it from 70s. And if they don't... maybe it is not so good as it seems. To make this test good - you have to make air pressure on electrodes equal to that it is in runing engine.

Capacitors connected in series exponentially reduces the capacitance. Is this actually helpful here? Because i know that less capacitance means a faster discharge.

I'm curious, would this have similar affect on a solenoid in place of the spark plug? Would the solenoid have more magnetic force? Or would it resonate in an LC circuit for longer producing lower but longer magnetic force?

Does it applies to improve a motorcycle ignition? Does it increase the frequency or only the AMPs? If it increase the frequency I guess I won't work because of there won't be synchronicity with the engine cycles, right?

The current isn't constant, it's actually pulsing at a high frequency. I think that the capacitors get charged when the current is flowing and then discharge across the gap when the current stops.

I tried this method and the external test sparks were beautiful. It cannot be started when the motorcycle is installed. Thank you for your youtubeteaching :)

Everything I do on this channel is not as easy as it looks. You have to make your own study and observations. For this simple plasma ignition you have to understand how capacitor behaves and how plasma spark behaves under compression.

Hi, I have a 3.0 L 6-cylinder gasoline turbo charged engine. What would be the best value capacitor? I'm not sure i'm understanding what makes a bigger spark. would a 220pf/30kv or a 100pf/30kv make a bigger spark?

Cruz Reyes, 220 pF capacitor will make bigger spark than 100 pF capacitor. Actually these capacitors make the ignition coil work hard but turbo boost makes the ignition coil work even harder. If you want big sparks, try 220 pF and see if it works until max boost and max revs. If not, install the 100 pF one and if you still have problem with it, you should replace your ignition coil with a better one (high power ignition coil or higher voltage ignition coil). I wish you much success with your project!

This doesn't work in vehicles... at all... infact it kills power output on a vehicle. The only reason it works on a bench is because their power source is taken from the wall and a diode rectifies the AC, and the cap (in this case MOV), shunts the wall power once the spark bridges. It is like having a dead short to the wall. If you are being sold on this for an ignition, it is a scam.

You are wrong. I use this system on my daily driven car. On this video I use 12 V 7.2 Ah battery to power the ignition coil, no AC input from wall outlet, no rectifier, only high voltage capacitors. On my channel I don't sell anything. My intention here is just to share my knowledge. I have learned many things all my life from other people and now it's my turn to share mine.

Yeah, but it's just used best when ecu remapped so it's not really for the family sedans or anything. And to a certain extent it's not truly for passenger vehicles at all, needs better equipment to take advantage of it.

I'm inspired by this, can you please use oscilloscope on this to see if there's spark timing change? I'm afraid that the capacitors delay the timing a bit, accumulate the energy and release it at the same time. Just curious. Thank you.

Thanks. Theoretically yes. But in reality I cannot feel any difference. I did not change my ignition timing on my car. But you have to observe your engine yourself and make adjustment as needed.

Think about a stream of water on a pipe. It flows constantly. Now take a bucket. The bucket is the capacitor. Put the bucket on the end of the pipe. Now the water has to fill the bucket to be thrown. It will create an interval in the water flow, but with a little more power. The same with the capacitor.

Greetings my friend!Great video!I have a question..Surely,we use low resistance ignition wire and non resistance spark plugs..Does it really matter if we use spark plug cap with resistance?? Or the whole idea is to have the less resistance possible to our "circuit" =(spark plug wire,spark plug cap,spark plug) ?I plan to use 3 capacitors like these at your video (15kv,220pf) in series to a 125cc motorcycle for experiment,hoping the piston won't crack.. :P

Hi Nick. Any resistance along the way will reduce the plasma effect, if it's too high it will kill this effect completely. Connect the capacitors as close as possible to your spark plug, the closer the better. You can crack your piston only if your engine is knocking but not from the ignition.

Its dangerous, you should tell people about it. 15kV can cause several damage. You touch the capacitors like nothing, but if someone doesnt know about it, it can kill someone.

Did you notice that he only used one hand? Also, it's likely that the high voltage is only capacitively coupled to ground, so no good path for lethal current to travel. This isn't magic.

Okki, I've made the capacitor bank in my 1200w generator but got no increase in spark production. Maybe my ignition is weak for this arrangement?

If your ignition coil is too weak, you wouldn't get any spark at the spark plug. Maybe your resistance is too big. Please measure the resistance of your ignition cable and your spark plug, it should not exceed 1 kOhm in total.

saran aja kalo di mobil carburator enk bisa setel pengapian denga. mudah. tpi kalo motor harus menyesuiakan smkain bnyak kapasitornya pengapian dimajukan. dikatenakan fungsi kapasitor menyimpan arus sementara. untuk motor standar injeksi atau karbu cukup 3 buah kapasitor. minimal minum pertamax.

Marcelo, se você notar o som que a vela faz da pra perceber que a frequência de acionamento da vela muda, ou seja, o tempo do motor provavelmente vai ficar errado, os capacitores irão causar um retardo na ignição
