Great job OFD in spite of all the obstacles encountered on this fire! It seemed every tactic decided hit a dead-end road with no water at multiple key points. Seems like OFD overcame all of these encounters successfully!

I think ocfd did one hell of a job with the hand they where delt. The fire fighters working in these big cities do this for real every day. Good job to all the ocfd firefighters that was on this fire

Kudos to OCFD and its members for a well-executed and disciplined attack on an extremely difficult fire, made worse by inoperable standpipes. A fire in the cockloft of a large building without firebreaks, and is self-ventilating through the roof, is always a tough fight. It was not safe to put members on the roof, and the fire was spreading so quickly, that trench cuts would not have slowed the extension. Fortunately for all, this building was unoccupied. And it doesn't appear that any members suffered serious injury.

Those crews were left on the 5th floor LONG after they should have been removed. Heavy fire in new construction and water problems. Time to bail out. Piss poor operation and the risk factor was way over the red line.

@jessicamerriman2336

@@charleso8826 takes a big person to apologize. The reasons we get a little touchy is most of us had civilian jobs growing up of many varieties. None invited the criticism that emergency services get. People watch firefighting, Paramedics, etc on TV and are suddenly experts. As a 27 year Paramedic/Firefighter I had so many try to tell me how to treat patients medically, we didn't respond fast enough, etc. Some would downright want to fight if we didn't give the patient this med or that med. Just know what doesn't make sense to civilians is crystal clear to us. If a firefighter gets in a hurry and say, vents the roof early, it could flashover and kill everyone inside. Firefighting and Paramedicine is a ballet of protocols, tools, knowledge and quick, but organized chaos resulting in the best outcome available. 🙂

@@jeffvanschoonhoven5171 it’s a fluid situation that changes daily. I started out as an AmCare Paramedic. We were known officially as the Central Oklahoma Ambulance Trust (COAT). We were subsidized by Oklahoma City $760,000 a year. Our Executive Director got in a personal pissing contest that involved a high city official. We were then dissolved and (EMSA) brought in because of that pissing contest. Not our professionalism, complaints or any other negative experienced by our patients. EMSAs first year subsidy? $4.3 million. The city official liked EMSAs Executive Director. Just insane!

Poor job? Are you serious? They were following the National Incident Command System. Why would you not ask for a chief? Once the chief arrives on scene, they take command and the company officer can get back with their crew. 100% you ask for a chief on a five-story building with smoke showing from the roof.

@@micahdouglas9113 true that. And upgrade to a full commercial response which is exactly what E-11 did. Even with E-22 & E-18 self assigned. They both would have been toned out to fill the 1st alarm assignment.
