Hawkins is a better athlete than Arnold. He will develop over this next year because he will have a personal mentor in Mateer, and one of the best QB developers in Arbuckle and the other QB coach. I just hope he can be patient and stay with OU.

I think Mateer is very aggressive very strong, very rough around the edges I like it. He’s a leader , He’s very vocal. He’s very positive and he’s very cocky lot like Baker Mayfield.

So apparently the team that was more in the mix was NC and John got a call from Bill Belichick and also Tom Brady. We then had Baker call Mateer and that sealed the deal. Glad to see we finally pulled out all the cards!

Having an actual QB coach is the most important hire. Mateer is just the icing on the cake.

It's actually not the most important hire. Recruiting, bringing guys in from the portal , getting guys with talent , can make plays... The talent level with the elite teams doesn't match up with the big boys. Mateer is just 1 piece of the puzzle..❤❤

Hey man all know Hawkins, is a great athlete we know he can throw and can definitely run the rock for sure, it will be a great help to have Mateer's knowledge of the offense to help out Hawkins, if he will just be patient he still has plenty of time to play and he will before it's all said and done.

I really hate that John Mateer is getting so much hype behind him as a new pick up. Seems EVERY TIME that a "huge pick up" comes down to us, they are a bust. Maybe I'm more concerned with people putting far too much pressure on his success for him to actually be successful. And then, what's our limit? What IS success for John Mateer? The hype videos haven't been helpful for any of the Pedestal Guys that we have brought in since Dillon Gabriel.

So this guy is our savior huh. Im not falling for all the hype after running dillon off for what we had this year we get what we deserved im thining. We ran spencer off who won us our last champion ship.for rileys son who aint won shit for nobody that i seen yet unless he won something in high school and now probably going to run hawk off for this guy and i heard we picked up a o line guy from stanford who gabe said aint even as good as tarquin our tackle this year. I dont think this guy could have done much better than arnold or hawk with the o line we have and the whole country knew it but us
