Oksana's interpretation of music was amazing! Each time she skates I feel like I am going on a magical carpet ride with her. This is one of her best performances! Thank you so much for sharing.

I LOVE the part when she lands her second jump right in synch with the music and bass. That was AWESOME!! She makes it look so easy, when in fact it is very difficult, and few people appreciate her talent as a wonderful dancer and skater. She may not always get the jumps, but she is still a powerful artistic dancer and skater.

one of my all time fav programs from her. that music has been reused a lot since 2003 when Michelle Kwan used it for her SP. since then 2 or 3 other skaters have used it as well...great piece of music.

To be fair to Oksana, this was one of her first programs after having knee surgery not long after the 94 Games. She was never the same as an athletic skater after that because she ignored doctor's orderand went back to work six months after surgery. She'll always be my all time fave skater, glad I had the chance to see her live in 96.

I agree - Tiny you are so wrong for that comment. Secondly, this particular performance is from a Champions On Ice Tour; which was a huge traveling show where skaters performed in a different city every night. As a skater we know a performance is not going to be perfect every time. If u want to see this program performed to perfection watch the program's debut at the first Ice Wars competition.

yeah, the very first performance was the best... no falls (like in the other ones).. and yeah, the veil makes a major difference... her body, hands,eyes, and edging speak, not her mouth... and that adds an extra theatrical element, i totally love the first performance... the chains on her hands, the turban, the veil, the outfit... all is awesome! *smile*

@Marigold3000 I absolutely agree with you. It looks like the art and originality was taken out of the skating and, despite how wonderful it is to see a quadruple jump performed, it also seems vacuum and empty without the necessary art involved… I remember Yagudin at 2002 Olympics and Oksana and REAAAAALLY MISS these wonderful performances. Hope the art and originality returns soon to skating competitions!

Katarina Witt has a similiar program.. the Louis Armstrong one where she does a lot of posing and flirting with the audience and very little skating... but don't get me wrong, it's one of my faves, it's so much fun to watch her interact with the audience and judges.. and of course.. she wins them over EVERY time.. LOL

As good as this pro ice-show version of the routine is, the original competition version is really the boss. Triple-jumps, competition intensity (of course), and, best of all, the full pasha-dancer facegear, with only her big foxy eyes gazing out. Yummy. A classic routine. And HAWT too!! :-D

Why should she? Americans NEVER appreciated her at all. Her character & skating especially in the US skating community. It is a place where she is hated. Americans slandered abused & mistreated this skater in every way imaginable. Maligning her character & reputation seeking to discredit all of her achievement. Most know nothing about the very European sport of figure skating. They should've let Tonya skate against Nancy with a club! Its the only skating Americans can appreciate.
@jantellit12312 жыл бұрын
Figure skating jumps are so overrated most lack athleticism looking like turns more than jumps. If a jump has no height it's boring. The quality went down when they changed the rule to make tiny jumps equal to huge jumps.
