What a couple of intelligent, well rounded and fun young women. It’s lovely to see them sit down, talk and get to know them a little. They have my respect.

I’m happy for them that they realize gymnastics doesn’t define them. They have so much more life to live and experience. To laugh and cry and love and grieve. It’s a wild ride. ❤❤❤ good luck to both!

Two of the best gymnasts ever! I absolutely love their style and precision. Aly is an icon on floor-- I mean that opening pass?? And Laurie was a firecracker and her beam was excellent!

That’s a good interviewer though! Sometimes the interviewer interrupts too much and doesn’t let the conversation flow naturally.

@@megrobs11 It's so lovely. It's funny, I used to interview tons of elite gymnasts in the past, and back then most of them were so media trained (and the gym environment so tense) that very few felt free to really talk in interviews. It's so lovely seeing them older and open and reflective. Loved it.

Hi, Laurie Hernandez and Aly Raisman from Olympics Gymnasts.
@anovemberstar Жыл бұрын
Interesting they both felt people were questioning their Olympic achievements when they were asked if they were going back for another one. But, they were such awesome gymnasts I wanted to know if I'd get to seem them compete at the next Olympics. I suspect that was the intent behind asking them that - take it as a marker of your success, not anything else. 🥰
@Chels-fz5uq Жыл бұрын
Probably because most gymnasts and serious gymnastics fans know that attempting to go to another Olympics in gymnastics after years away from the sport is nearly impossible. One week off from training and you almost have to start all over from the beginning. It’s nothing like other sports where things can just be picked back up easily.
@sethescope Жыл бұрын
to be fair, intent is not the same as impact. just because someone MAY have intended it in a good way doesn't change the fact that it impacted someone in a negative way. the intent doesn't make it better, it doesn't heal the hurt or the pressure they were under. and the fact of the matter is, in this case, the intent doesn't matter because the harm came from being constantly asked over and over by dozens, if not hundreds, of people. does that make sense?
@Chicoandtheman Жыл бұрын
For me, it wasn’t because I felt what they did wasn’t good enough. I would have asked them because I absolutely love them and enjoy the heck out of their gymnastics and seeing them compete.

Why did I think she was born in ‘92. I remember the first games everyone was calling her the older of the group. I thought she was older by 3 years. I’m only a year younger 95er. She’s turning 30 too in a couple days😭 95 kids this is our last full year anyway

Laurie still has some guns. Arm wrestle? I'll pass. But seriously. These two ladies are my favorite gymnasts. I miss seeing Aly's floor routine. She exhibits a flowing elegance especially her first pass. One of my favorite memories of Laurie was the "I got this" moment just before she did her beam exercise. Both of these ladies are very articulate and honest. Wish nothing but the best for their life going forward.
