I spent a month (August 2008) in Bavaria (Munich)...it was my very first time in Europe and i loved it...great people, delicious food, beautiful scenery, and the best beer ever!!!...Can't wait to go back next year to those Biergartens...Prost!!

i love it my favorite german Oktoberfest and i can speak german learned it when i as a kid my mother is german married to my father a u.s. army soldier ah well cant help it. i grew up half way in Germany and love it love it all the way 100%

the tents are free, but when you don't have a seat, then you don't get any beer. I've been there last year, and this year i go again. The opening saturday is very very busy. We were there at 7.30 in de morning, and the doors dind't open until 10 . 10.30, but is was the best party you can imagine

If you get a chance get into Augustinerzelt tent it is a very friendly tent or Hackerzelt tent which holds 10,000 seats but there all good I go every year. You could try to get into Hippodrom but it is a celebratity tent and always busy at night and weekends it's see and be seen tent

Well, not so fast. Most of the festival is always in September, only to usually end on the first Sunday in October. In 2008, the Oktoberfest is from Sept.20th-Oct 5th.

I can understand that. The Oktoberfest is kind of funny but despite, that i´m also from munich, i havent been there for a long time now. Its too much of a tourist attraction imho, too many binge drinking guys are around and too many people in a whole, that you do even hard just to walk around that place ^^. I prefer more the local Volksfest oder Seefest.

grussgot from usa I still retain some of the german I can speak. I grew up in Germany my mother is german she is from small town north of munich I have been to Oktoberfest for years in Germany at the time my dad was in the u.s. army stationed there we lived in Ansbach at the time I had been wearing Bavarian wear and I miss it a lot I mean a lot and not joking I cant go now cause of our economy here so bad and so upset want to go to Oktoberfest for my birthday but am stuck cant afford the fare

Yeah that would be bavarian but unfortunately, its allready hard enough if for example americans try to talk german (if they are allready a bit drunk ^^) so i would suggest you don´t even try the acent style ;). In german, it would mean "Kauf mir noch ein Bier!" or "Kaufst du mir ein Bier?"
