Okuma Battle Cat Review | This is one awesome trophy catfish rod!

I figured since I got #SKUNKED while fishing with a subscriber I would create another rod review video. This is a very awesome and unique fishing rod!
I don't know what magic Okuma used when they made this rod! It is an outstanding top of the line catfishing rod! The rod starts off with a high quality cork grip and eva foam foregrip. They used a Pacific Bay reel seat that has metal retainers. The base of the rod comes out of the handle instead of in the middle of the rod. They used one piece stainless steel eyes. It has an incredibly strong backbone with a very flexible tip that can be used with circle hooks. The rod is white so it is easily seen at nighttime. I had it paired with an Okuma Classic pro 200 size and have since upgraded to a 300 sized one. Overall I think the rod is an incredible value for what it is!

Use cork wax. Can get it at a music store if not online. Better for cork than oil

butt cork is easy to take off, and replace with cork wrap it would look good with cork wrap.When cork gets old it cracks of easy to replace it with simple cork tape,you can replace it for life with cork tape when needed..Compare to foam grips are heck to scrap off.When my Eva foam goes bad,I take it off sand it down and replace it with cork tape. and a two inch piece of shrink tube to cover the ends.its easy..

Hey bill i been using Thompson's water seal 4 several years now on all my cork, it seems to do just fine i put on a couple coats each year

I don't. The handle is 2 maybe 2.5 feet long.

To be honest I like the Okuma Record Chaser spinning rods more. Carbon works better than glass with what I usually use spinning rods for (lightweight baits and live baits).

look i loved my battlecat until the carbon fiber handle section broke my uper blank is fine but my handle broke in 2 and im sad it was under the line rateing of the rod and i was puling up on something i was pulling in i loved it though until then

First time ever I've heard of them breaking. I had one holding my boat in place in very high current with the tip underwater on accident. It may have been a defect in that specific rod which happens. Okuma is good at honoring their warranty.

@@TNRVG i mean like it definately was defective i was useing like 40lb braid and pulling upwards (not high sticking) and it cracked the handle but do you know if they would let you replace a spinning rod if it was covered under warranty with the exact same rod but casting?

I have an 8 foot and 7 foot 6 inch Battle cat rods. Are they compatible with bait casters? The eyes look way bigger then the eyes on this rod. Maybe it's just me

There are two versions. A spinning and a casting. What is the number on the side if the rod near the blank?

I got an 8 foot battle cat and and was a little jumpy, put the rod in the handle without thinking and I can't take them apart to get the reel on the same side as the eyes, any suggestions? I need help

It should come back apart. It's made to be very difficult to do for travel. You may be able to simply turn it too.

How much thicker is the 8fters than the 7.5s....and would you recomend the 8fters for a small to med size jon boat? I currently fish from bank with a 8 fter but about to buy more and would like to use them for both bank and boat. Also how do you feel about the spinning version?

It's just a little thicker. I think the 7.5 foot is perfect for a boat. If you use planer boards the 8 foot would be the way to go or longer.

Battle Cat hands down. Okuma used some type of magic to make the tip flexible while keeping the backbone very strong!
