Concerning single coils, I think the p90 is the real MVP. It's thicker than the average strat or tele. It can still get some single coil bite if you want, and it can handle the heavy music too. Handles down tuning and stoner & sludge styles like a champ.

I used to have a shred master pedal back in the day. I used to get a heavy chug from it. It was my go-to pedal until I got the zoom 505 and the fp01 expression pedal for it. Edit: I spec'd out and bought my PC on PC Specialist. Only things I regret not getting were integrated bluetooth and sd card reader. But I already have those on my laptop when I need them and I can save items in one drive so that they can be opened in either my PC or laptop. I went with an AMD processor.

Ola's Tech Tips had me reminiscing about my last build...which incidentally was also in the 90's when top end video cards were AGP. PCIe hadn't yet came out. I built a computer with a AMD 3200+ processor, DFI nForce2 motherboard, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro graphics (which was the best at the time), 2 x 2 GB Corsair DDR (dual channel), and an 800 watt power supply. The MB had onboard Creative Soundblaster audio and I hooked up a set of Creative 5.1 speakers that pounded out 500 watts. I also had a Samsung 32" monitor that was beautiful in displaying high definition images. I wouldn't know were to begin in today's computer era with a build???

Had a shredmaster back in the day. Goes from ZZtop to black album tones, basically. Maaaaaybe it can do modern high gain, but I obviously didn't try that in 1992. (Gods I'm old...) The "contour" dial could as well be named "scoop" for what it does.

I’ve built a few “guv’nor” variants in the past and I was BLOWN AWAY when I built the first which was an original like what Marshall made. With a clean boost/overdrive in front it actually achieved some pretty tasty chugs 👍. I have yet to try a Blues Breaker or Drive Master. The Shred Master was a bit too noisy to me though! I never even bothered putting that one in an enclosure.

Nothing against Babymetal, they're pretty fun. BUT, there are so many, better, girl groups out of Japan that deserve more exposure. 15:15 i know of the problem you speak of. Early IDE was to slow for (hence Mac and other workstation providers like SUN microsystems using SCSI) BUT creative labs found out that they could create their own spec since their cards already used a PCI slot so they provided their own CD-ROM readers. This way you didn't get the buffer underrun problems of IDE, BUT IDE cdoms were not compatible with sound blaster cards
