Actually, Ola the way around the sudden tuning instability is to put on locking tuners AND run them on 11’s. This applies to ALL the Ibanez Mikro guitars including the Mikro basses, except you’ll run heavier bass strings. I recommend the Grover 406C6 tuners for any of the Mikro guitars except black ones are VERY hard to find and if you do manage to find a set, you’ll pay a premium.

This was what I wanted to get my 6 year old daughter for Christmas. We dont have the money for a new one but I was able to find a used one on CL. I traded a Mackie 12 mixer for it. Good deal, I had found the Mackie in a scrap pile at the dump anyway.(It worked just fine, wealthy people throw away good stuff all the time. Thanks!) So, anyhow, love the little Ibanez Mikro, cant wait to give it to her so she can start rockin! Poor kid try's to play a full size acoustic and can barely hold it flat on her lap. I tought her "satisfaction" by the stones on just the E string between two frets, but being size challenged, she uses her thumb because it is to big to maneuver right. Cant wait for the 25th to hurry up and get here so she can have an actual decent instrument to play!

Shorter scale lengths (22.2" in the PGM's case) have their benefits and there are solutions to technical problems like tuning stability. Could also be a possible solution for players who have suffered hand injuries, just have general weakness, or limited stretching? Seems like it could be a useful tool for some folks. :)
