It's amazing how Olan can take a story which is essentially just "This one time, I was on a walk and had to poop so bad, I took a dump in a random house's lawn and a passing car saw me!" and turn it into an epic tale of emotion, suspense, drama, and amazing wordsmithed phrases.

Freshman year of high school, I got really sick with bronchitis and had to leave class because I was coughing so much. I went to the office and I was excused to go home but I had to walk, it's not too bad of a walk but that day it was awful. The whole walk I kept coughing, snot was just pouring out of my nose and I kept coughing up mucus. Eventually I had to stop because this cough was just too much, started gagging and I knew what was gonna happen. I leaned over some bushes in front of someone's house and started puking up everything I ate that day and a bit of food from the night before. Cars are passing by but I didn't care, I was unleashing the monster that was in me. I calmed down, sat on the curb for a minute and when I looked up the old woman who lives in that house was looking at me with disgust written all over her face. I waved to her and very weakly said "I'm okay!" Then I got up and kept walking home. I didn't go to school rest of the week.

A few years ago, back when I was in highschool, my mother's friend had brought her baby daughter over in her little baby carriage, just to visit. Then, my mom gets the idea for us to go on a walk with the baby and our dog. At first, things seemed fine. That was, until... I realized that something was BREWING in my digestive tract. Turns out eating a burrito made from a SPINACH TORTILLA was a bad idea. It had acted as a natural laxative, and before I knew it, I was in the "life clench" stage. I couldn't tell them what was happening and risk earning the ire of my mother, so I held on for the dear life of my shorts. And as soon as I got home, I HAULED ASS all the way to the bathroom, and let loose a TORRENT of spinach burrito Remnants. Most harrowing experience in my life so far.

If you knew the neighbors that would make sense, but here in the U.S (at least from where I'm from in NJ) you barely know anyone past one or two houses from your own. And as Brian said, a stranger knocking on your door for any reason besides delivering a package is seen as essentially taboo nowadays.
