I saw this when it came out - the most exhilarating experience experience I ever had. By now I have maybe seen things that exceed it in principle, scene for scene, but this came out in 1986 and the competition was a long way behind at that point. And Gorman, who was probably the biggest liability sacrificed himself along with Vasquez. Of course, I'm biased toward Hicks since Michael Biehn is one of my favorite underrated actors. Burke is the only real unlikeable asshole in the group. Vasquez's weapon, btw, is a smart gun. The eye-piece she wears guides her aim by providing target lock.

If you dig into Alien lore, Hudson becomes more understandable. Hudson's lifelong dream is to own a bar, because he would be able to live in luxury off the profits for the rest of his life. To do this he signed up to the Marines for ten years and saved his wages. We hear him say he's only four weeks from the end of his service, so he's literally a month away from achieving his dream, he's watching his life slide down the drain. The same thing applies to the whole squad....the film doesn't really convey well that they are actually well versed in encounters with alien species, they just haven't faced a foe like this before. Likewise with Vasquez and Drake, Vasquez gets more upset over Drakes death than the others, because she's known Drake most of her life, they were in prison together, signed up together, went through training together.

13:47 There are 3 actors that are in both Aliens and Terminator. Michael Biehn is the actor who plays the marine named Dwayne Hicks in Aliens. He flirts a bit with Ripley at times, and also agrees with her that they should take off and nuke the whole place from space, because it is the only way to be sure. Biehn played Kyle Reese, Sarah's protector from the future, in Terminator; in Terminator, we learn that Reese was John Connor's father. Then there is Lance Henriksen, who in Aliens plays the android named Bishop (who does much better for humans than his counterpart, Ash, did in the original Alien!). In Terminator, Henriksen plays a police detective: I can't describe him much, except he was white and his boss was black, and they both worked in the police station office (where both of them, and many more, police are later killed by the Terminator). Then there is Bill Paxton. In Aliens, Paxton is the marine named Hudson, who had Bishop doing the fast knife game with his hand early on, and later Hudson freaks out a few times ("Game over man, Game over!"). In Terminator, Paxton was one of the three punks that the Terminator encounters early on, when he was naked and needed clothes: Paxton was the leader of the punks and he had blue, spikey hair. ----- Added later, thanks to steve boy: And relatedly ... there is Jenette Goldstein, who plays the tough female marine, Vasquez, in Aliens. In Terminator 2 (not in Terminator), she plays John Connor's foster mom ("She's not my mom, Todd"), who gets copied by the liquid-metal Terminator and talks on the phone to John.

No other creature comes close to looking as real and as menacing as the the ones in the first 2 movies. Once the alien becomes CGI in the 3rd film and you see it scurrying around like an animal it loses all it's menace and becomes another generic movie monster. The other movies can be enjoyable in their own right but pale in comparison to the first 2 movies. Great reaction by the way.

The origin of the aliens is sort of explained in the two prequel films, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Neither film gives a very good explanation, or at least not a full explanation, of where the aliens come from but they do give some answers. Unfortunately, both of the films are pretty bad and aren't really worth watching unless you really like the Alien franchise. By the way, the guy who played Parker in Alien is also in the film Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's not a great film, but it's fun so you might want to check it out. The marine who kept freaking out was played by Bill Paxton. You can see him and Schwarzenegger in True Lies, which was also directed by James Cameron.

I just found your channel. I am loving it. I suppose some have told you this, but don't watch Alien 3 or 4, or at least I would not recommend, they are not canon for most fans. Anyway I will keep watching and thank you.

Wow with your eye makeup you look like Winona Ryder especially your eyes. It’s weird because I was thinking this and then I remembered Winona Ryder is in Alien 4

So, a word of friendly advice. NEVER WATCH ALIEN 3!!!! Just don't do it. The series nose dives after this. The Alien Queen was a massive puppet that took 12 people to control. This included 2 guys riding in her torso working her arms. Paul Reiser's own mother cheered when he died at this movies premier.
