@43:38 -- "The boss fight starts now I think" -- that is the best quote ever for that scene! Totally caught that moment perfectly. Such a fun reaction, and even when you tell yourself to 'shush' from talking, you make it work fairly well.

I saw this when it came out - the most exhilarating experience experience I ever had. By now I have maybe seen things that exceed it in principle, scene for scene, but this came out in 1986 and the competition was a long way behind at that point. I remember I had to keep telling myself to relax my grip on the arm rest of the seats and then 5 minutes later I was gripping as hard as could again.

Funny thing is it has the exact same story as Alien. 1=alien 2=aliens 1. go to planet to investigate unknown signal. 2. go to planet to investigate loss of signal. 1. face hugger infects host and brought back to ship. 2. face hugger infects host and brought back to colony. 1. alien matures and kills everyone. 2. alien matures and kills everyone. 1. Ripley escapes self destruct in the pod. 2. Ripley escapes reactor blast in drop ship 1. alien follows Ripley on the escape pod. 2. alien follows Ripley to the USS Sulaco Mothership. (Absolutely Gorgeous ship btw) 1. Ripley blows alien out into space. 2. Ripley blows alien out into space. 1. cryo-sleep for long voyage home. 2. cryo-sleep for long voyage home. I love Vasquez. Honestly, the entire squad were a real stand-up crew. Even Hudson who spent most of the time whining, when the time came, stepped up and fought to his death. And Gorman, who was probably the biggest liability sacrificed himself along with Vasquez. Of course, I'm biased toward Hicks since Michael Biehn is one of my favorite underrated actors. Burke is the only real unlikeable asshole in the group. Vasquez's weapon, btw, is a smart gun. The eye-piece she wears guides her aim by providing target lock.

I agree, casting for crew was so well casted. Gorman was perhaps every soldier's worst nightmare: Unexperienced officer, in first real mission. But While he wasn't true leader and went shock, he is not coward. Vasquez, Hicks and Hudon's are my fave's outside Ripley. I am big fan of Michael Biehn myself. RIP Bill Paxton, you are missed. Fun Fact: Bill Paxton is only actor so far that has been killed on screen by Terminator, Xenomorph (Alien) and Predator (Yautja).

If you dig into Alien lore, Hudson becomes more understandable. Hudson's lifelong dream is to own a bar, because he would be able to live in luxury off the profits for the rest of his life. To do this he signed up to the Marines for ten years and saved his wages. We hear him say he's only four weeks from the end of his service, so he's literally a month away from achieving his dream, he's watching his life slide down the drain. The same thing applies to the whole squad....the film doesn't really convey well that they are actually well versed in encounters with alien species, they just haven't faced a foe like this before. Likewise with Vasquez and Drake, Vasquez gets more upset over Drakes death than the others, because she's known Drake most of her life, they were in prison together, signed up together, went through training together.

Also fun fact, Bill Paxton (Hudson) is the only actor in history to be killed by an alien, predator, and a terminator! He was the dude with the mohawk at the beginning of Terminator that pullled the knife on Arnold. Also, Lance Henrikesn plays Bishop in this series as well as the cop at the police station in Terminator. So this movie has 3 people from Terminator in it who had important roles in both movies.

13:47 There are 3 actors that are in both Aliens and Terminator. Michael Biehn is the actor who plays the marine named Dwayne Hicks in Aliens. He flirts a bit with Ripley at times, and also agrees with her that they should take off and nuke the whole place from space, because it is the only way to be sure. Biehn played Kyle Reese, Sarah's protector from the future, in Terminator; in Terminator, we learn that Reese was John Connor's father. Then there is Lance Henriksen, who in Aliens plays the android named Bishop (who does much better for humans than his counterpart, Ash, did in the original Alien!). In Terminator, Henriksen plays a police detective: I can't describe him much, except he was white and his boss was black, and they both worked in the police station office (where both of them, and many more, police are later killed by the Terminator). Then there is Bill Paxton. In Aliens, Paxton is the marine named Hudson, who had Bishop doing the fast knife game with his hand early on, and later Hudson freaks out a few times ("Game over man, Game over!"). In Terminator, Paxton was one of the three punks that the Terminator encounters early on, when he was naked and needed clothes: Paxton was the leader of the punks and he had blue, spikey hair. ----- Added later, thanks to steve boy: And relatedly ... there is Jenette Goldstein, who plays the tough female marine, Vasquez, in Aliens. In Terminator 2 (not in Terminator), she plays John Connor's foster mom ("She's not my mom, Todd"), who gets copied by the liquid-metal Terminator and talks on the phone to John.

In regular it fires like a normal gun but in smart mode the IR (infra-red) eye piece is hooked up to a target computer that programs the bullets. the bullets are able to change direction up to 30% to hit targets on the move and to allow the operator to start firing as soon as they have a lock without having to do a bunch of aiming which is good for point because there up front and will be the first to encounter the enemy.

4:14 Third Officer Ripley has returned to near-Earth with a Xenomorph-sized case of PTSD. What will The Weyland-Yutani Suits make of her blowing up the "Nostromo"? 8:54 A scene not in the 1986 theatrical version. 7:37 Short end of the stick. 9:31 Tim and Rebecca. 12:43 The best "Burn!" line. 14:22 The Colonial Marines are on a Bug Hunt, but THEY are the Bugs! 15:15 This example of the Prop Maker's Art was convincing enough for industrial companies to ask where they could BUY one! 16:01 Hudson's Rant, also not seen in 1986. 17:13 A hint about the minimum size for egg hosting. Also not seen in 1986. 20:11 In 1986 I wondered how Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to a traumatized Rebecca. A reviewer of the time said: "Sisterhood!" That didn't sound right, and when I bought the Special Edition Laserdisc(!) it became crystal clear how Ripley and Newt were connecting. 22:45 Disarming the Marines has always been troubling. 25:47 Ripley to the rescue! 28:55 The Drop Ship crash destroyed the facility's cooling system. 32:15 Thermonuclear doom ahead! 34:39 Burke still wants those millions from Bioweapons. 37:35 Guess who! 39:28 Going out like Klingon warriors. 41:32 The right tool for the job, via Duck Tape. Ripley has learned how to be a Vasquez-level warrior. 41:36 "Dwayne and Ellen," NOT in the 1986 original.41:57 Sigourney Weaver has said that "Aliens" was all about guns; I've always thought that "Aliens" was all about Family. 43:09 Egg chamber. 45:52 Elevator to the Stars. 46:43 Continuing jeopardy. 48:20 Captain Dallas strikes again! My favourite movie. Saw it around 11-12 years old at the drive-in. The practical creature effects in this movie, especially the queen, have never been beaten in my opinion. No other creature comes close to looking as real and as menacing as the the ones in the first 2 movies. Once the alien becomes CGI in the 3rd film and you see it scurrying around like an animal it loses all it's menace and becomes another generic movie monster. The other movies can be enjoyable in their own right but pale in comparison to the first 2 movies. Great reaction by the way.

Y'know, I've seen this movie COUNTLESS times, on TV, DVD, Cable and the Cinema over the decades. In my opinion, Stan Winston also made 'Queenie' not only menacing and downright terrifying, but also quite beautiful in some ways (If you slow down the 'classic' trailer' from 1986, the Queen even has 'heels', although at the time, we had no idea what this gigantic Alien actually was);

Hey. I’ve seen a few of your reaction videos and love them. Your very cool. By the way the story does not end here. Alien 3 is next… it follows on from this one 👍

49:52 Yep, that’s the end of the story, no need to watch any other movies. They all made it back safely to earth. Ripley and Hicks got married, adopted Newt, and raised her along with Jonesy. Bishop got repaired and lived with the Hicks-Ripley family. And they all lived happily ever after. The end.

The one scene that nearly made me puke was when Ripley was getting the remaining Marines out in the corridor and she runs over a Xenomorph's head. It's just 🤢🤮.

Hey just wanted to be sure you are aware of the remaining sequels alien 3 and alien resurrection. There are also 2 prequels, Prometheus and Alien covenant. They prequels more or less explain where the aliens come from.

Great reaction! I like how you immediately disliked Burke and knew he was lying. He's one of the best villains in film in my opinion. Everyone hates him and cheers when the alien finally gets him. The origin of the aliens is sort of explained in the two prequel films, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Neither film gives a very good explanation, or at least not a full explanation, of where the aliens come from but they do give some answers. Unfortunately, both of the films are pretty bad and aren't really worth watching unless you really like the Alien franchise. By the way, the guy who played Parker in Alien is also in the film Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's not a great film, but it's fun so you might want to check it out. The marine who kept freaking out was played by Bill Paxton. You can see him and Schwarzenegger in True Lies, which was also directed by James Cameron.

Ridely Scott DIDN'T take us to the Xenomorph home planet, but coated the Alien franchise in Panko, with the vengeful Android, David. Now "Alien" is just a shadow of itself, undone by an "I am GOD! Homo sapiens sucks!" version of Bender Bending Rodriguez. I see that a Genius can have just one bright idea, before getting trapped in bogus canon.

I get your point about them prolly being hungry, but you don’t wast screen time on eating unless there’s a purpose to the scene… also this is my favorite movie so I never would’ve found your channel if you didn’t react to this, you’ve won me over, I’m subbing. 🐈💎

If you like Reese/Hicks you might want to watch Tombstone. He plays a bad guy, but he does an amazing acting job in that movie. Maybe you won't like him being the bad guy, but he and Val Kilmir steal every scene they are in together.

So was it just me or in Alien, when they discovered the ship, didn't it appears to be two legs and the "entry" also looked like a "lady downstairs"? (I'm pretty sure they designed it that way on purpose )

H.R. Giger's designs ( on which the Alien is based) were overtly sexual in nature. The ship the Alien is discovered in looks like a fallopian tube.

I just found your channel. I am loving it. I suppose some have told you this, but don't watch Alien 3 or 4, or at least I would not recommend, they are not canon for most fans. Anyway I will keep watching and thank you.

So, a word of friendly advice. NEVER WATCH ALIEN 3!!!! Just don't do it. The series nose dives after this. The Alien Queen was a massive puppet that took 12 people to control. This included 2 guys riding in her torso working her arms. Paul Reiser's own mother cheered when he died at this movies premier.
