I really love this place. All the old stone is absolutely beautiful. Loving that creek. So glad they are saving this piece of history. Being a former spinner at a cotton mill there is tons of history in these old mills. They were the hubs of small towns and usually consists of store/post office and mill village. It was where everyone worked. Communities were close back then. Really cool place.

I lived in the area in the 60s and 70s...I spent many hours after school playing in the woods, the stream, and ruins in the area. There was Colonial spring house down the road...it was overgrown with cattails and in a swamp, but my brother I knew what it was from seeing similar structures at national parks. It was bulldozed and the swamp infilled for a housing development. There was also a covered bridge down the road a bit, that I used to visit on my bicycle. I think it also has been torn down due to lack care. We stayed out of the Mill ruins because it was not safe, but I ice skated on the pond above the mill damn (not all that safe with thin ice) It is good that the area is being cleaned up and the history maintained.

What an awesome project ! They have a lot of work ahead of them but what a wonderful thing they are doing ..preserving their local history . Every town and city in America should take pride in the restoration of places such as this old mill. Otherwise future generations will never be able to SEE what they looked like and how they operated. It's aso great for tourism. I'm sure there are many others, than just me, who love historical landmarks from days gone by. Thanks for an interesting and informative video.

What an interesting place. I'm glad that this historical location is being reused and not demolished. You guys lucked out by meeting a generous volunteer to give a "peek" of the off limits areas. How cool is that. Some locations like this disappear from developers that have little or no regard for the past/ history. East Brandywine township is lucky to have such a dedicated group of people. JP I know this video is a couple weeks old I’m just now getting to it. I grew up in upstate New York and I lived in a little town near an old township called “Washington mills” and nearby was another township called “New York mills”, and sadly many of those ole mills were razed. My parents moved into the area in the mid 60’s and said there were many old mill buildings still standing but going to seed fast. Some were saved. Some were turned into retail stores or modern business. I’m so glad this particular mill is being salvaged, albeit I know some is beyond saving. My dad was aircrew WW2 on board B-24 liberators, it would be interesting if his liner was made at this factory

Really nice explore and information about the mill and the buildings! Learned all about how water towers operate too. It amazes me how the generations before us generated their water flow and powered the mill. Glad it is being restored and saved, quite the undertaking for sure. @@JPVideos81 yeah it was really neat! It was remodeled with modern amenities like the kitchen and bathroom but huge thick walls, naturally air conditioned! Original dirt floor basement with stone walls. Had a bit of a mold issue but the rent was next to nothing! 😆
