A lot of cameras do make backs where you can do this with 35mm or 120 film to get panoramic type shots. A lot of large format cameras can shoot 120 film in a special back to get 120 panoramic images.

Firstly, these Kodaks are practically antique so they're not even that cheap. Secondly the image is frankly quite shit, look at the softness and the lack of contrast. If you factor in the cost of buying and developing medium format it's not a sustainable process. 5$ thrift store 35mm point and shoots are the way to go for cheap film photography. Check yourself.

It has a set shutter speed and aperture, so you kinda have to just meter the light to make sure it works with your set exposure range. If I recall, we just did the math beforehand and figured we'd be good to shoot anything in open daylight.

I ordered some Portra 120 400 and some black and white 120 that is also ISO 400 for my Brownie Hawkeye Flash. I probably should have checked that the aperture is fixed at F15 and the shutter at 1/40. I am going to overcook these shots unless I shoot in lower light conditions. I have no lens filters. How would you approach this aside from trying to send the film back to swap it? This camera was my dad's and has not been shot since the late 70s.
@AwesomeCameras4 жыл бұрын
I'd say shoot a roll and see how it comes out... Maybe try on a cloudy day. But remember that film is much more forgiving than the average digital sensor, so overexposing by 2 stops might not be that big of a deal, and you may actually prefer the results...
@Sreybk4 жыл бұрын
@@AwesomeCameras What I should have done was a bit more research on the shutter speed and aperture and Sunny 16-ed it from there. Ideally, Cinestill 50D would probably be the call. I'll probably just shoot it in lower light conditions. I have read where somebody shot some 120 400 and said it looked fine.

I have a Brownie Hawkeye that I just cleaned for the first time since I got it. I used various KZbin videos and websites to help along the way. Even though it’s a basic design, it can be a bit daunting to a first timer. I can successfully say I was able to put it back together after taking time to clean off all the surface rust. My question to you is after putting it back together I’m having issues with my shutter sticking. It will work 3-4 times then just stick. Sometimes the spring comes loose other times I have to back out the screws a little. Did I mess it up? Can I salvage it?

Ok so I watched this video and I’m curious before I go shooting a roll of 120 film (I’ve never shot 120 before) when rolling up the film and unloading it will the roll be ok in light or should I do it in the dark like the 35mm rolls?
@AwesomeCameras5 жыл бұрын

it depends on the camera, my mamiya winds all the film from one spool onto another spool thus you end up with a roll ready to take out in daylight and take to get developed.
