Im white too but Im so intrigued by black people hair. I kinda feel awkward but it is so faacinating. Also impresive how much work and time it costs to take care of hair like this. Also i wonder is it for convinience to brais the hair or is it actually easier to Just wear natural hair styles?

I usually leave quick weaves in for about 3 wks.. this time I left it in for about 5 wks smh.. when I took it out the matting was really bad.. Hello, Miss Exclusive! You are right. It is inexpensive. I wanted to show people that they don't have to go out and pay a lot for a product that claims to detangle. Sometimes all we need is already on our own shelves. If it can work for my matted hair, then it can definitely work with everyday tangles. I actually did retain a lot and I was able to maintain the health of my hair with no issues. I appreciate you for taking the time to leave this comment, and I really am glad that it helped. :-) 💚

I've 4c hair. I have worn wigs since I was in HS-over 20yrs now- before it was the trend and when everyone thought I was crazy- in part bc my scalp literally feels like red ants are stinging me when I start fooling around with my hair. It doesn't matter if my hair is done by me or someone else. By the time I wash it twice and wash out the conditioner, my scalp aches. During those 20yrs of trial and error, I had box braids, two strand twists (which grew my hair the fastest or at least caused the least amount of damage to my ends), and sew-ins in for 2-3 months at a time. I found that beeswax kept my hair soft (and conditioned) but was a pain to wash out. Looking back, I def. didn't treat my take down with the level of care and gentleness shown here. My new growth was terribly dry while the protected hair was soft. I raked through that mess w/o using anything but shampoo and those cheap $1 combs w/ the graduated teeth--a very bad Idea. Her technique makes a lot of sense. My goal is to cornrow my hair for up to 3 months at a time for 1- 2 yrs starting this week. ( Google the Health Hair Program (HHP)). Since I normally wear wigs, this shouldn't be a problem. I do plan to wash w diluted cleansing shampoo ( Design Essentials) and oil it ( Coconut, Almond and Tea tree oil mix) on a regular basis. Dryness is the kiss of death for my hair growing and maintenance efforts. My hair doesn't like water plus anything, for example, for pre-poos or daily spritzes or detangling. In fact, my hair likes only certain oils, like almond oil instead of coconut oil. From what I gather about the HHP, you cornrow your hair for 2- 3 months at a time. Wear wigs or sew-ins over the cornrows. Wash and condition regularly (as described above). After take down, deep clean, deep condition, detangle, deep steam, (some may use a keratin treatment (which totally jacked my hair up last yr causing me to cut off 4-5"), trim, blow dry, moisturize, and cornrow and weave/wig all over again. The goal is to seriously not touch your 4c at all, except for those 6-4x per year for take down. You should be able to grow 4-6" easily in 12 months.

@SehvynnMinnitstoParty
@SehvynnMinnitstoParty 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Karissa! Thanks very much for subscribing. 🎀 Someone else in the comment section is also considering getting a sew-in for the first time. So it's okay to ask. I'm sorry that I can't recommend a specific time for you to leave your braids in, because everyone hair responds to things differently. My hair can withstand wearing braids for months with no real issues, but someone else's hair may be able to only withstand braids for just a few weeks. There is absolutely nothing wrong with hair that can only withstand braids for a few weeks, it just simply means that we are all different, and that we all have different hair. :-) I would recommend going to a professional stylist to see if he or she can work with your hair one-on-one, and tell you what's best for your individual head of hair. Make sure the stylist is patient with you. If you don't want to go the stylist route, just start off with 2-3 weeks in braids and see how your hair reacts after you take down the braids. If it's good, then work your way up from there, you want to. Learn your hair and always do what's best for it. Sew-ins are fun, but always make your hair underneath a number one priority, so be sure to care for your scalp, as well. If you have any more questions, just ask. 💜💙

💜 Thank you for your outlook on this video. It says a lot, and I honestly didn't think about it like that. But you're right, hair care isn't all about 'perfection'. It can get ugly in that salon, kitchen, or wherever, and can be frustrating to everyday women who just don't know how to care for their hair. No matter how ugly or nasty it may look, If I didn't share this video, I would be selfish; especially knowing that someone could benefit from it. Haircare is just what it says 'Caring for the Hair'. lol. Thanks for your honest feedback and perspective. I appreciate you! 💙👍🏽💛🎀💛

Another simple way to steam your hair is to do so while you're showering. Put your conditioning product on your hair, place your plastic cap on ($1 at Dollar Tree), and hop in the shower. By the time you finish showering you've been in long enough for a deep conditioning or detangle product to work. Great video!

Thank you very much for taking the time and the detailed instructions. I have watched a good many in past two days since taking the two days to get my braids out themselves. I had them to my knees. Whew that’s dedication. Lol this is the first time in a year that I got matted hair at roots from low crown down. My hairdresser was out of town so I had to work on my own. I have extremely thick fast growing hair. In 5 months and three different braid styles and colors my hair grew 5.30 in. Time to re dye and let my hair hang out before the next set of rainbow to my knees. It’s so much easier to style and go rather the flat iron,curling iron or blow outs. Again. THANK you again for taking the time and I subscribed! Blessed be!

I am so grateful for these videos. Even though I have Caucasian hair I did not know why my hair was matting. I have severe depression and keep my hair in a bun. I went to a salon for help with matting because I couldn't get it out. I wasn't told about shedding. Now I make sure I try to comb my hair everyday and never again wash while matted! I love my long hair and since I have been in medications my hair started to fall out years ago. I had hair to the middle of my back and it fell out so much my hair was thin and just brushed my shoulders. Took me 3 years to grow my hair and now it is down my back to my butt. I love how things are explained in these videos! It helps everyone. Thank you!

Hi Krissy! Thanks so much for leaving a comment. I know there are lots of people who struggle with depression. I've heard SO many stories and I understand it's real. But moving forward, don't claim having depression, don't even speak it over your life. Even though depression is real, just say to yourself every day: "I don't have depression", or say: "Today, I'm healed from depression". *SAY* it. *SPEAK* it and *BELIEVE* your own words. Even when you're having a not-so-good day, speak those positive words into existence anyway. (Sorry to get off topic). 😊 Thanks for watching the video and yes, hair sheds. That is very, very normal. We all shed a few strands each day so it's important to free the shed hair every once in a while so that the hair doesn't mat or clump together overtime. I am very grateful to be able to share the video and I truly hope it helps you moving forward. I hope you have happy and healthy days ahead!!! Take care. 💜💜

Nice job on showing us all how to detangle matted hair 😘🙌🙌 This is the gritty side to hair care that noone wants to discuss. I am glad u cared enough to show ur version of it, which looks pain free. I wish I knew ur method before I ended up tugging and pulling out my knotted and matted hair that was tangled all over my head from a hairdresser that styled individual braids back in October of last year. When I was taking down my braids in December of 2016, my hair that grew from the braids was soo tangled all over and I was so mad bc i worked so hard to grow my natural hair, and to see it come out in handfuls was so hurtful and very painful all bc the stylist I went to didn't do my hair correctly. I am still growing my hair, and I wear protective styles, no heat or any tension to my hair. 😊 Thank u for the diy steaming tip, I will be adding that into my hair care routine. God bless u beautiful 🙏❤❤

@SehvynnMinnitstoParty 7 жыл бұрын
Hello Misha!! It's nice to read your detailed comment! I know it was disappointing to experience that, because part of the point of getting protective styles is to maintain healthy hair, and 'protect' it, not harm it. It can be twice as disappointing when someone else is the cause of our hair pain, rather than if we do it to ourselves (maybe because we trust the individual to do a good job). But on the bright side, your hair is growing, so it will be right back to where it was before, and even surpass that length. I like protective styles, as well; they're so easy, breezy and beautiful. 😁🤣 *Thanks* so much for your sweet compliment, and Blessings to you and your hair, as well! 💜😘🌹

Sehvynn Minnits to Party U are welcome & thank u for ur comment; I appreciate u. Yes that whole experience was so frustrating. I never went back to that stylist again. "Protective styles" are supposed to be just like u said, protective, and help hair to grow etc. The stylist kept saying I have such pretty natural hair...I have "good hair" etc..I should have known something was up with her but I was so happy to get individual braids, I just chalked it up to her admiring my hair, which was fine, but now I think she was out to damage my hair, not help it with the protective style, as I hoped. Some ppl do shady shit to be spiteful smh. Lesson learned for me. I am still trying to figure out this whole natural hair journey of mine (I've been natural for almost 2 years now)..i suppose in time I will get the hang of it and become a pro (fingers crossed). I receive ur blessings and well wishes. Many blessings to u as well 🙏😘😘❤

Hi Azalia! Yup, based on this comment section, I've learned that some people can go months, like I did without any *real* issues, and others can only go a few weeks and their hair will tangle. Hi can someone help. Im 16. Im trying to grow my hair its almost to bra strap but my mom when she does my hair she pulls and yanks with a comb and she was just like "well that's your hair type" "it's supposed to be like that" so much breakage came out and it was all over the wall too. She doesn't think that it will damage my hair and cause breakage by combing rough. She also doesn't believe i need a trim when my ends are straight and i have fairy knots. She believes to take REGULAR scissors and cut the hair, LIKE WTF! i seem to have no control over my hair growth journey and my mom is making it hard.

Hi Ms Kyesha...my advice is to kindly show your mommy some KZbin tutorials of how other women, who have hair like yours, are treating their hair. This may inspire her and give her a better understanding of how to treat your hair and how to avoid breakage and damage. I understand that our parents have the 'know it all' mentality and that's okay, but try to use KZbin videos to encourage her to be a bit more gentle. :-) I hope this helps! 💜

Baby girl, you're 16(maybe 17 now) my Adv ice would be to politely suggest to your momma that you would prefer to handle your own hair from now on if she doesn't want to stop being so rough x

Please handle your own hair. Nobody will be as gentle as you. How’s your hair doing now though?
