Oh my word!!! That’s got future fire written all over that. I hope I’m wrong as I’d hate for that to happen, no protection on the compressor, CPC not sleeved, no consumer unit in the shed. Happy new year 🤣

Apart from the lack of the earth core insulation where is the fuse covering the compressor circuit?
@admiralcraddock46418 күн бұрын
Lovely Broomwade compresser. Looks like an AC18. I was a compressor engineer and worked on all models of BW machines. Those little things will run forever as long as you clean the valve, as they can get very hot and suffer carbon build up. As it probably won't get daily use the oil should be charged eversix months and run up once a week to avoid condensation in the oil and cylinders. A 68 weight oil should be used.

Nice compressor adam you should put drop lines in the shed so you can simply plug in in different places where you need them be careful with electrics tho mate cant see it cant smell it but its there to give a nasty shock

Hi Adam hope you and Mrs Mancave are well and had a nice Christmas. Good to see your compressor is working, i'm concerned about the workshop electrics, no earth sleeving and a single fuse to cover all the shed electrics. you should get each circuit protected by it's own fuse or circuit breaker one each for socket circuit 16 or 20 amp lighting 5 or 6 amp and 16 amp for your compressor, i'm not telling you how to do your electrics, just concerned. Hope you both have a good new year and all the best

I can hear an air leak! Get the soapy water out and check all the joints. I think I'd trust that 50's style junction box about as far as a one legged man could kick it!
@davidabbott885618 күн бұрын
Adam. Just watched you doing your electrical work. The earth wire you just pushed in and screwed down should be shielded with the proper coloured shield not left bare. Just in case there is a leakage of power.

I’m no Electrician although learnt a little during my apprenticeship which enabled me to wire up my shed/workshop. With a consumer unit, ring circuit for the sockets with a 16a MCB and a 6a MCB for the led tube lighting. Pardon the pun but your wiring is SHOCKING.

I’d of also put the compressor the other way round…might be harder to replace the belts but would be easier to keep an eye on the compressor oil level.

There are many complaints re the wiring 🤔 Looks ok to me but then I'm about the same as you when it comes to wiring the shed and I'm still alive 😮👍🇮🇪 I'd be more concerned about the compressor tank being rusted out as that will get your attention if it goes bang 🫣

I have a basic rule, if it has wires in it, I don’t touch it. This I feel tells you everything I know about electrics. Given so many comments about a consumer unit (no idea but it sounds nice) and getting things rewired by an electrician, maybe, just maybe they have a point.

Adam I have to say I enjoy your videos but I think your wiring of the mains circuit is a fire waiting to happen. Maybe there’s no more room in that connector for a reason? Take advice mate from someone who is qualified. (That’s not me by the way!) You admit yourself there’s to much stuff in your shed so all you need now is a fire and a trip hazard and you clout your head in your haste to get out and you could be in real trouble. Make your shed as tidy as a show engine.

I hope you don’t mind, but I’m not going to whine about your wiring. It’s your shed 😊
@whitesapphire586518 күн бұрын
I don't like to nit pick, but surely, conventional wisdom would suggest wiring up the load end of the circuit, and work back toward the supply/fusebox/consumer unit. That way, you're always working on dead (electrically speaking) wiring, and finishing off with the connection to your fuse/MCB. As others have said, there are a few things which could be done better. Oh, by the way, it's good practice to bolt the compressor down to a good solid base, like a custom laid concrete plinth...... If you've ever seen a compressor get airborne, and the damage that can result, you'll understand why bolting down is a must. Speaking of views. We used to have three magnificent power stations to the south. Now, we have only one, and a half a million wind turbines. You could turn away from the power stations, if you wanted to. There's no escaping the bloody turbines! 😱☹️
@bushratbeachbum18 күн бұрын
Why would the compressor get airborne?!! If you don't like wind turbines, perhaps you'd prefer a nice safe nuclear power station? Lovely!

@super695418 күн бұрын
@@bushratbeachbum They go off like a rather large bomb if the tanks getting rusted out internally and it explodes with the air pressure, bolting it down should help to stop it going to visit Jesus !
@bushratbeachbum18 күн бұрын
@@super6954 bolting it down isn't going to help it it goes bang. It's blowing the shed to bits no matter what. If you're worried about a compressor going bang, take the tank for a test or build a heavy wire cage around it.
@davidkirkham692913 күн бұрын
No compressor should be bolted to the floor, vibration will split the tank at the feet rubber mat under feet also should be wired to a 20 amp circuit brome Wade a AC 10 pump unit.

Whatever you do, don't let a qualified electrician into your shed, he/she would condemn the wiring.
