I also believe Jason was slightly younger, and because Ras Al Ghul had nothing to do with this scheme Jason was never resurrected. This caused Batman to retire until he was in his late 50s or early 60s. So, Tim never became Robin, Bruce never met or trained Stepanie Brown, never adopted Kassandra Cain, and Damian was never born.

If I remember correctly, I read some comments on the scene of his death and explained why they killed him off. So people shitted on him and hated him cause he was annoying af, so the people wanted him gone or dead, or do whatever to get him to stop being that annoying. The writers saw this and did as everyone asked, and purposely made it so unexpected, brutal, and unfair to catch everyone off guard and make them feel like hell for it.

With his death, decades later dc decided to bring him back as a complex, well thought out character with a great back story, design, name and motive. He was completely reborn. No he doesn’t in the Dark Knight graphic novels. He goes to apprehend the joker on his own and gets caught and killed. After that Bruce retires as Batman until this point. The Dark Knight Returns was released in 1986 two years before the Death in the Family storyline where Jason dies.

If I remember correctly, the original comic (The Dark Knight Returns) came out a couple years before Jason Todd's death in the comics so it kind of predicted it. and of course Red Hood wouldn't exist yet at that time. But there's a new Robin in that story, Carrie Kelley, who I think needed some more screentime and character development but is still cool

I always figured the lack of clothing was so that Dick/the other Robins could be more acrobatic, though the mask thing doesn't really make much sense, just like Batgirl letting her hair flow out which is not only a possible identifier, but also a hazard since it could get caught in things or be used against her by a villain. What’s crazy that we kinda forget sometimes 30+ years later is that Dark Knight Returns and Jason’s memorial were published 2 Years BEFORE Jason was killed in A Death in the Family.
