If it ever gets wet it will swell. They have a 1/4 inch plywood with a nailing pattern layed out on it. Back in the 70s it was the popular product.

Mdf will draw moisture straight from the substrate and swell up.

I'm considering ripping up old damaged parquet flooring. I was told it would likely cost more to fix the damaged areas. The house is in Florida. I'm DEFINITELY looking into laminate.

Because of the humidity and heat in FL, I recommend LVP (luxury vinyl plank) as it is 100% water proof so humidity and water won’t hurt it. It is a little more expensive than laminate, but easier to install and more durable.

Also use a crown stapler do ever inch or two on the perimeter and every 6 inches in the middle

Mdf?? Can’t think of a worse material to use. Mdf and moisture do not mix at all…

MDF! NO! USE 1/4 PLY WOOD. Any moisture will reck the MDF!

Taking up that hall way like that...will scratch and scrap the crap out of your paint Job. If you want to learn how to do all this... go and find an actual installer that does it for a living on KZbin. NEVER try to learn from a do it yourself "expert".
