Yeah Chino had to alter his screaming techniques and start using inhales etc after a vocal cord injury in 2001 prior to this album. Some of the other Deftones tracks you've done are also after this injury, but naturally the vocals didn't demand that kind of performance so this might be why you haven't heard it yet. If you listen to a slightly earlier track like Around The Fur or Rickets you may hear a difference in the screaming quality, as his screaming voice was a lot clearer. Regarding Stefan's guitars, you've probably noticed but he's a big fan of using a dissonant bass note in his chords. In terms of insane screaming techniques though, you need to listen to something off Slipknot's IOWA album. Thanks.

Around the Fur is my tippy top favorite album of all time (aside from Self-Titled) and in my soundtrack of life. I really hope you get to experience songs from there like "Lhabia", "Mascara", "Around the Fur", "Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away)" (this song in specific- there even used to be a live version where they'd start the song with a mini-cover of "Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode and then later in the song they'd do another mini-cover of "Teclo" by PJ Harvey, and then they'd finish out the rest of the song. By far one of the coolest experiences done really well in their own style during Around the Fur era), "Lotion", "MX", or even better, the hidden track "Damone".

Having known them closely for almost 20 years, this is Deftones best song imo and one of the greatest metal songs and openers of all time. The vocal performance is driven by the great, angry satirical lyrics targeted towards terrorism. The dumming in the chorus is no doubt made to emphasis the "Worship, pray" lyrics, which is why it follows the others.

I love the time signature of this song It makes me feel like I'm on a carousel or in a panicked crowd. I also love the structure; after the second "worship, pray" refrain, a new verse is introduced.
