One of my all time favourite Disturbed songs. This was lead guitarist Dan's 1st song that had a solo, and took the whole band to really boost his confidence as he never really felt good enough to create such beautiful music. If you want a song by them that has a killer riff, gut-wrenching solo and a deep message, go for their song 'Inside the Fire'

Dave Dramien (the vocalist) is really well known for his metal scat that he does, which he is right up there with Johnathan Davis as the masters of that technique. Down With A Sickness is a great showcase for that, but all of the early albums have it somewhere.

Definitely agree with the solo. It fits the song so well. I feel that the journey that the melody takes is more impressive than the technical skill; anyone on the earth can get good at technical skill but it takes a heck of a lot more artistic skill to create a great sound with the solo.

The most psycho part about Dave Draihman's voice is that he can still belt out like that while suffering from massive acid reflux that has destroyed the flap in his throat. He had surgery on it once but now there's nothing left to repair. He has to eat a special diet, make sure not to eat within a certain amount of time before bed and has to sleep sitting upright. Doesn't stop him from hitting some "dank as hell, danker the better, stinky indica" anytime he's done singing.. Though when they did The Sound of Silence, he was already stoned and recorded it stoned. If you want the ultimate expression of who Dave is as a musician listen to Prayer.. he literally says "this is how I pray" which brought his dad back to him.. he had been disowned for his music but hearing that changed his dad's mind. Here's another suggestion, it's short but watch Masked Singer Suomi Tohtori and do the songs he did.. especially Yellow Brick Road. You will lost your mind when you hear it. It was Marko Hietala (pronounce Hee-et-uh-luh I found out.. sort of like Hawaiians would oddly)

As for the solo, this song was on their 3rd album, the first 2 didn't have solos on them. This album was released in 2005, the year before Dimebag Darrell (the guitar player from the band Pantera, listen to them if you haven't) was shot and killed on stage during a concert. The album was dedicated to Dimebag, and Dan Donegan (the guitarist for Disturbed) wrote the solos to honor him. They were a big hit, and he kept writing them on subsequent albums.

Killin' it as always, Geebz! As a man born in 1996 and having older siblings that were more involved in music before I got to be, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, etc... were some of the bands that I listened to *every single day* for years and years. I ran through Disturbed's _The Sickness_ front to back countless times and grabbed 6 other albums from them for my collection since. My favorite song to listen to from them would probably be _Dropping Plates,_ or their cover _Shout 2000_ off of The Sickness, but I always place the solo on their song _Torn_ as one of the best I've ever heard; not just from them but from all the songs I have listened to. It is such a well written and jarringly powerful solo, and from one of Disturbed's best albums, too!

There are so many songs from Disturbed I could mention for you to check out from anything off of the believe album (prayer, remember, bound, awaken, darkness (one of their other few ballads) etc) to haunted, the night, indestructable all are worthy of your review. There is another band Flyleaf with the singer Lacey Sturm who I recently got back into. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Flyleaf's song "again", "all around me" "i'm so sick" or one of Lacey's solo songs "Rot" "the decree" or "State of me". IMHO, She has a very beautiful and unique (cool anunciation however "unclean") but powerful voice and singing style and in my opinion her songs have cool timing and intensity. Keep up the great work of your decomposition of music.

This is a good pick to react to. For the next choice I'd go with Perfect Insanity or The Vengeful One. There's so many though that you can't really go wrong.

Perfect Insanity YES! This got me back into music after 40 yrs of giving it up ... bought a new guitar and have been plugging away at it for 1.5 years now. Found a Disturbed guitar book with Perfect Insanity which is still way beyond my abilities, but, one of these days, this 60 yr. old fat girl gonna play some Disturbed, lol!

A great reaction as always, thought I'd mention (although I'm sure I'm not the first) that the singer of this band (David Draimen) and the singer of Alter Bridge (Myles Kennedy) did the Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel live. I would for sure recommend checking it out, both singers sing on opposing ends of the spectrum with David being lower notes and Myles being higher, making a great collaboration that compliments each other very well.

This is the best reaction channel on KZbin, love hearing someone talk about music who actually knows what they're talking about. Keep doing what you're doing Geebz, would love to see your reactions to some more Radiohead or some WHITE STRIPES!!

Thank you for doing this song. I get excited when I see someone really get into a song like this from the first time hearing it. And your decomposition of it was fantastic! I enjoy watching you! Much love ❤️🤘

The fact that I hate this band with a passion, yet still watched this video, is a true testament to how much I dig your channel. 😂

I'd love to see you decompose/react to one of the songs from Scar Symmetry's Holographic Universe album. Anything, really. Probably the most fitting would be Holographic Universe or Ghost Prototype II - Deus Ex Machina

The whole album is great, they really hit hard with this one. It’s funny bc it’s been a while since I popped this CD in, it’s in now since yesterday! Crazy timing man.

I always thought this was their most perfect album personally. Though i had listened to it a lot on my own, this album is burned into my soundtrack of life due to a ride home one night when i was young from a shitty landscaping job. The guy driving had put this album on and we almost listened to the whole thing, and now when i think of ten thousand fists that's the first thing i remember. Shit job too, the music is the only reason i still remember it lol. Also yeah, that OOH AH AH AH AH is just his thing, he does that on multiple tracks lol.

Stricken was (at least I think) [Thank you Guitar Hero lol] the first song I ever heard from Disturbed and they have become my favorite band. What's great, and an odd coincidence, is that you made this reaction and uploaded it on my 28th birthday. I'm glad you are enjoying their music so far and I hope to see more Disturbed reactions in the future. My favorite song from Disturbed is The Light off of their Immortalized album, if you are looking for suggestions. Thank you for your time

David Draiman said in an interview that the ooh wa ah ah ah is his version of a primal scream and it gets him in the headspace he needs to be in for their music. The one he did in Down With the Sickness is different, because it sounds more like a 60 year smoker clearing their throat. He's pretty much stuck with the one you hear in this one. I think he's a bit concerned that his tombstone will say The Ooh Wa Ah Ah Ah Guy, but I, personally, think it would be awesome to have a button you press and that sound comes out. It would freak out anyone who happened to be in the cemetery, but oh well...lol.

Disturbed was really my first 'live music experience' as a young teen. One particular moment during the show while the band was playing Prayer, my bud and I were wedged up against the gates infront of the pit behind us and the guitarist Dan was looking over the crowd. I was lucky enough to catch his attention for a moment and flashed him the devil horns, to which he stuck his tongue out and threw them right back to me. Check out The Vengeful One if you get a chance! Love these guys to death :)
