Serj's voice is insanely powerful. The deep tone harmonizes incredibly well with Daron's high tone, and it really sounds like nothing else.

The blend between the harmonies of the two members really make this group special for me. That and the use of middle eastern instruments and progressions. Serj's voice is really operatic. My favorite moment from Serj and Daron is in Radio/Video.

I love how this song has the opposite structure of most metal songs. The verse is loud and heavy and the chorus is soft and melodic.

It definitely gives this tragic feel that you know was the goal of the song. It is supposed to be anguished, to feel tragic, to be sad. Because this is a song about losing your identity to the reality of life. Gives that feel of "another one has fallen to this. So we sing mournfully"

4 piece band. 1 guitar, 1 bass, 1 drums, 1 singer, guitarist does background vocals. I saw these guys headline Ozzfest in 02 with my wife, it was one of the single most mind-blowing live shows I've ever seen, and I've seen hundreds of shows.

Serj intended to be an opera singer and was told he wasn't good enough and look at him now... a massively successful musician in a metal band. I think they did him a favor by rejecting him and I hope they realize how much potential he has and what they lost/gave up.

He was probably devastated when being rejected and look at the beautiful creativity born of going within and finding yourself.. Your soul.. Uhh soo grateful his voice is healing .. Aerials is actually part of the song, originally it was 6.18 long but was split into two Aerials and Arto and Arto thus serving as an outro for the song. They are musically related and are actually written as a one song

@@connorpost I havent actively listened to them in quite some years but I'm definitely partial to their newer stuff, just cause I'm a fan of more melodic stuff and their earlier work is definitely more chaotic and intense, i enjoy it all though! But if I had to pick a few, B.Y.O.B., Violent Pornography, and Sad Statue.

Daron the guitarist usually plays in Drop D, and one step down (Drop C). He likely played all of the parts in the studio but when they played this one live, the lead vocalist Serj plays too.

@@MegaCityGhost Yeah, he’s pretty awful. He worked on Smashing Pumpkins “Shiny” album and that was terrible too. The Johnny Cash albums sound good, but thats cause he didnt do anything lol. Supposedly he produced Deloused in the Comatorium, but ive never really believed it.

You and I are probably in the same generation, and I'm having a great time watching you react to music I love and also discovering some new tracks with you. SOAD is an incredible band. Aerials is a personal favorite. Serj is an opera-trained vocalist, unless I stand corrected. If you like this group you must hear B.Y.O.B. and Chop Suey for some crazy sonic flips. I love System of a Down, they are so unique in their compositions and the vocalist just showers his complexities within the song. I was turned on to them by a friend at work who made a playlist for me and I was hooked. Kudos to you Geebz for an accurate interpretation of the song. Geebz...I love what you do. There are certain artists that touch me in a way that I can't describe (I have no extensive musical background) and it's so cool to see you break them down in a technical way. I know you probably have hundreds of requests to decompose but I will throw this band/singer in the ring....Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes and the song "Don't Wanna Fight." I love Tool, I love Radiohead and I love System of a Down and the blues-rock style of the Shakes just puts a smile on my face.

Great breakdown! This song has been with me for basically my whole life, and the toxicity album was the first thing my mom ever put on for me, so hearing other people talk about it, especially you, is such a wonderful experience. There is also this Tunisian artist called 'Emel' who did a beautiful cover of this song. If you ever feel like talking about a more relaxed and calm song i strongly recommend either her version or a cover of an Iranian song called "holm" that she has also done. Have a great day !

Great video. Keep 'em coming. Looking forward to more Radiohead. Also, I was the one who recommended Boards of Canada. Arguably the best ambient/experimental band ever. My recommendations were *"Dawn Chorus"* , *"Everything You Do is a Balloon"* , and *"1969"* . I still stand by those. They have a lot of brilliant songs but those are really good ones to start off with. Really hope you give them a chance.

Amazing to see someone discover SOAD so many years later, and a refreshing take as usual! I request you to do the song Lady Fantasy: Encounter / Smiles for You / Lady Fantasy by the prog rock band Camel. I think you'd enjoy it immensely!

Fair to Midland. They were signed to System of a Downs label imprint or whatever. The song Vice/ Versa is a great place to start. Or that whole album..... Love your channel dude!
