Thanks so much! This was a nice surprise. This is another band we're quite excited about! Newer video for "Towers" is a more proper studio performance. Edit: We've got people in our office that played in bands, school band, and a staffer that went to Berklee and can rant about theory all day. Point is: we appreciate the in depth look at the how's and why's of metal! The rambling is what we're here for!

Aloha MBR Gang! Wow, thank you for your comment. Always wondered if the record companies either cringed or were stoked on my vids. Yea, as I started this channel I wanted to focus on the "pure" listeners experience and perhaps give them new sonic leads to dig into their favorite music. Side benefit is deeper awareness of what it take to craft a song through arrangements without going to down the circle of 5ths rabbit hole :) Again, thanks for the comment - Awwwwwright!

Great choice! I had the pleasure of seeing these guys peform Asheran album live to a crowd of less than 20. I think it is pronounced "Dune" because they have drawn inspiration from the Dune books by Frank Herbert (Songs of Arrakis is their bandcamp name and Arrakis desert planet in the books). Great books too!

Their name is just the “kvult” way to spell “Dune,” which I only figured out by visiting their website a long time ago and saw a reference to “songs of Arrakis.” It’s appropriate because they write epic, Sci-fi concept/story albums. As for the name of the song, I can’t say specifically, but it’s probably a place or name of something from the story of this album.

Asheran is one of my favourite albums ever -- just incredible from start to finish, and their new album is _even better_. Album of the year for me. This song gives me goosebumps every time. On their guitar playthrough video, Victor calls it, "ess eye fourteen", if that helps.

Just finished the Mars Volta Inertiatic video, definitely excited to see what comes next. I like how clearly you breakdown the styles, formats, and functions in these songs. I highly recommend you check out Blind Guardian whenever you feel up to power metal/symphonic metal. Personally, my favorite is "And Then There Was Silence" from the album "Night at the Opera", it's one of their most intricate but also the longest of their work (14 min) all about the last days of Troy.
@josephtalarigo42433 жыл бұрын
Here's a heavy genre you might not have heard of: Funeral Doom Metal. These songs are not short, The Book of Kings by Mournful Congregation exceeds 30 minutes. Other songs of theirs are great as well, "Mother - Water, the Great Sea Wept", "Whispering Spiritscapes" "The Rubaiyat", "The Monad of Creation", "Skyward Gaze, Earthward Touch", "White Cold Wrath Burnt Frozen Blood". Ahab would be another excellent band to explore. "Old Thunder" is under 10 minutes. But it would be interesting to hear a composer break down songs that are epic and slow like that.

Hi Man! Your videos are very interesting and it's really a pleasure to listen to a song from different (engineering and composing) perspective. I would really love to see your analyze of Ulver - I Troldskog Faren Vild, because I think that's completely different style of music engineering. Heya Geebz! As a former concert band geek and now metalhead I have come to love and appreciate your posts! I always get excited when I see a new upload! If you don’t mind, I’ve got a suggestion that would be good to get your thoughts on. The first is a classic by my favourite band Epica, who, as it happens, just released a new album named Omega TODAY. This song, Consign to Oblivion, is from the early years and remains the closer for all their concert. It features pretty much every element of Epica - from the classically trained vocals of Simone Simons and the death growls of Mark Jansen to the extended orchestral sections combined with a sort of death metal, this song is most representative of their style. I’ve got lots of other suggestions, but I thought I’d start here - looking forward to more of your posts! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpzUqqyLiaiAi7M
