La-5 FN does indeed have no problem with overheating if you open the inlets fully. That is what I do, the inlets cost basically no drag and I close the outlets and oil pretty much. The FN is very easy to handle. Mixture is fully automatic, that keeps the engine cool as well. Only differences to the Normal La-5 is the mixture and the Oil rad which is a bit better, the rest is the same. I fly the La-5 the same way.

I don't think that the air can't escape. Plenty of gaps. There will be higher air pressure in the engine compartment. But I don't know how big the effects would be.

@@SheriffsSimShack I wasn't there, so I don't have the big picture on the tactical situation. That being said you were on the deck, and a 109 can dive faster than the FN can "fly away." So, this is why I figured that to be a bold (confident) move. : )

well the 109 had about equal E and the distance to the deck was not enoough to close the gap. The FN is about 50kph faster than a 109 on the deck. I felt pretty pretty safe. But I was not really thinking about it as i wrote it. I kinda eflt like I have to explain that, and how lucky he was ;)

Do you have true view enabled in your TIR profile? I turned it off because the virtual head always seemed to "sink". Makes shoulder checks really counter intuitive though

PS. ...so this is "Stalingrad"??...but the Soviets didn't have the La5FN 'till the late part of 1944, as far as I remember!?... Anyway! thumb up & subbed. :)

its the map of stalingrad, but the planesets are up to the admins. And the FNs apeared in the summer of '43 over Kursk I think this map is even called "Kursk". They use parts of the Stalingrad map as they dont have the kursk map ;)
