I love KEXP, Sturgills KEXP recordings are some of my favorites. That said, for such a short video there are A LOT of ads. I understand monetization (I used to be a commission only booking agent for live music, so I understand the importance of finding ways to not only make sure the world here's great music and not going broke in the process) just seems a BIT excessive amount of ads for a song 5-6 set

I have known these guys since the early buskin' days when they couldn't grow whiskers on there chins.Glad to see they are still together but the new sound is to produced for me, the fiddle follows the melody of the voice/lyrics. Willie and Ketch had a dynamic harmony, without Mr Watson the diversity has diminished. Check out Gill's solo stuff, really cool and a bit dark. Also Kevin released a solo project. They both are the more silent backdrop musicians who have to have a steady gig, but really have it going on in other ways.

Damn I had no idea neither Wagon Wheel or Sweet Amarillo we're originally "created" by Dylan. Be great to hear Ian Noe doing covers of these two OCMS songs he's got the voice of "country Dylan" I can here the "Dylanesque" influence now. Very "Basement Tapes" / "Big Pink" (with The Band") "This Wheels on Fire" et al. Shit I would much rather here Ian do Wagon Wheel than Darius Rucker 😜 (love you D.R. well done cover but Bob Dylan you are not)

"Remedy" is an awesome album. I saw them in San Francisco on the Remedy tour. I still feel a bit cheated because they didn't play "Firewater," which is my favorite song on that album, yet the guitjo player did a song, which was not very good, and they kept playing fast stuff that all sounded the same. I paid more than $200 for those tickets, so I feel that I have a right to complain. Still, it was a great show.

No Way. Willie is kicking ass doing his own thing. They wanted to go in different directions and are doing what they love. I highly recommend catching Willie if he comes to your town. Saw him with Gill, Dave and John Paul Jones at the Ryman last year.
@thegratefulbrad307210 жыл бұрын
P Young I agree. I've known these boys since they was just learning beer. I'll not say anything but Willie is awesome. I do know that about the time Willie left the boys had quit boozing wisely. Critter quit over it. They quit being my friend until they heard I quit drinking, now we're all lovey dovey again. the boys are clean and sober, with the occasional toke, which is actually verboten on the tour bus. When I heard Willie doing Going to California with JP Jones I knew Willie Watson is going to be just fine.
@junkyardtroubadour9 жыл бұрын
P Young Not a big fan of his new album. Love WW in the Crow. and was so the driving factor, they miss him no matter what anyone says. Watch that Easy Express movie, hes the one whos pushing the jams with everyone. As much as I love Ketch's talent I expect the ego was too much to take for Willy. just my opinion from a little bit of knowledge.
@thegratefulbrad30729 жыл бұрын
I know them well. Ketcham Secor hasn't one iota of what you call ego. The guy exudes gratitude, love and humility. Critter and Ketch were driving the bus when Willie got on, and they were driving the bus when he got off. I've been in the back row since 1997 before Willie, and let me tell you, nobody is rooting for Willie like his brothers in OCMS. Do not underestimate their decency folks.
@prestonjoeyoung9 жыл бұрын
I must say, willie's album blows the last OCMS out of the water. It is a throwback to what made me love them in the beginning. Willie sounds like Roscoe Holcomb, Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Sr. and so many more great artists are channeled through him.
