Great video and all. Doesn't do it justice. I have to be there to really appreciate it. Even though the water is too hot, I wonder if it has any healing properties. I wish the Carolinas had hot springs. Natural hot springs are an endurance athletes best friend. As long as it has the proper chemical compounds, and not too hot to sit in for an hour to relax and recover.

I went with my parents around 2005 and it wasn't as active as it should be and I said... "wow that's all it did?!" It was one of the weeks where it went maybe 1/4th of what was intended. My father pulled me aside and let me know that all of these foreigners including cantonese... mandarin... and japanese... have never seen it and that I should keep my mouth shut because they have traveled countless miles to see this. That day at the age of 15 I realized to stfu and enjoy what was in front of you. I still think about this day 20 years later.

I was just a kid when my family visited Yellowstone National Park. I remember thinking Old Faithful was the coolest thing ever. And we sat near a hot thermal pool and put a dirty sock in a long stick and dipped it, thoroughly cleaning it. We have photos of chipmunks stuffing their cheeks with nuts. And I remember Mim saying she “held into me for dear life” when overlooking the magnificent falls. Good times!

I don't recall if it was here or at another geyser. Two guys approached a geyser as it was scheduled to erupt. There was a crowd waiting. One of them stands a metal pipe, and the other puts a wheel on it. The guy at the wheel starts turning it as the geyser starts rumbling and then yells, "Let it rip, Charlie!" The crowd was confused. I saw it on "Bloopers, Commercials, and Practical Jokes" during the mid-1980s. Hilarious!

what ruins experiencing places like this is other people. Swear there's no real special or unique places in nature one can experience peacefully and alone anymore.

People are known to be a pain at times...however if we visit somewhere like this we are (arguably) part of the problem 🙂

@@davidjellis Yup this is true. I'm not trying to be selfish but I really enjoy nature alone as do many others haha.

The Yellowstone Supervolcano won't erupt because it enjoys putting on a show for its audiences.

Having been to Yellowstone now a few times, Old Faithful is probably the most over-hyped attraction in the park. Would put it last on my “must do’s” when there - there are some other geysers that in that area that are just as interesting, if not as large. Not saying don’t go see it if you never have, big for my time I would have spent more time in other areas of the park instead of killing a few hours there.

Totally agreed - we spent an hour or so here but spent the rest of the day travelling around Yellowstone which was far more interesting to be honest. I have other videos from our day - including this highlights video kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZDJoKudhNClldU
